Doctoral Programmes
The link to
apply for admission to PhD program for second semester 2013-14 is now open. The
last date for submission of completed application form is 21st December 2013.
Note: 1.
Please check the respective department websites for knowing about the operational
status of Part Time PhD program. NOT ALL departments would be offering this
program.
2.
Candidates wishing to apply to both on campus and part time programs will have
to fill two different application forms.

Eligibility
for Admissions:
Any Higher
Degree of BITS or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the
qualifying examination. Any applicant with qualification equivalent to
Integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one
of the higher degree programmes of the Institute. Such candidates may first be
admitted to the M.E./M.Phil. programmes offered by the Institute subject to the
eligibility conditions. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written
test/interview for selections. Selected candidates will be given financial
assistance in the form of either a fellowship of any government agency or of
the Institute, project or teaching assistantship, full/partial tuition waiver
or a combination of these. Such selected candidates will be required to
participate in teaching and any other developmental activities of the Institute
under the guidance of a mentor.
Industries
and R & D Organizations collaborating with BITS can sponsor candidates to
work for Ph.D under the Ph.D Aspirants Scheme. Under this Scheme such Employed
professionals working in Industries and R&D Organizations having long
experience and proven competence aspiring for Ph.D. programme will be
considered and will be allowed to pursue their research at their own locations
of work.

Online
Application
Carefully read the instructions and eligibility
conditions before proceeding to apply online.
Once you confirm the correctness of entered data it
will be recorded and you will not be allowed to change it thereafter. Therefore before confirming ensure the
correctness of all entered data. After reading the instructions, click on the
'Allow me to apply online' link at the bottom of this page. (You may have to
scroll down the page to see the link
Before printing out the filled form, the system
will generate a unique application number for you. Note down this number
without fail and use it in your future communication
After completing the form online, you will be asked
to take print outs of the filled form. You should take two copies of the printout,
complete the form and send one copy of the same with the proof of fee payment
by registered post /speed post to 'The Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani,
Rajasthan - 333 031 (India)' so as to reach on or before 5:00 PM 21st December 2013. You should keep the second copy with you for
your reference.
After sending the application form by post, please
check the status of your application at http://www.bitsadmission.com/
and follow the instructions.
If you do not have a printer attached to the
computer, you can go to the printout page again by entering the personal
details and the application number.
While applying online, do not use the 'Back' button
on the tool bar of your browser. Use the links and buttons available on the
page to move from one page to another. Further, when you have completed
applying, close all the open browser windows so that others cannot copy your
personal details.

the link at the bottom of this page.
Note: The
application fee is Rs. 1750/-. The fee payment can be made in one of the
following modes:
1. Payment by Credit Cards (All credit cards issued
by Master and Visa) or Payment by debit Cards (Debit cards issued by VISA of
select banks, namely (Andhra Bank, Axis Bank, Barclays Bank, Canara Bank, City
Union Bank, Corporation Bank, Deutsche Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IOB Bank,
Kotak bank, Standard Chartered, SBI, Syndicate bank, Federal Bank, Karur Vysya
Bank, GE Money financial services.)
2. Payment through Demand Draft : Attach a Demand
draft for Rs. 1750/-. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of ‘Birla
Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani' payable at (i) State Bank of
India, Pilani (Branch Code: 11309) Or
(ii) UCO Bank, Vidya Vihar, Pilani (Branch Code: 0150) Or (iii) ICICI
Bank, Pilani (Branch Code: 1538) .
