Candidates in their own interest should send their completed application forms by appropriate means well in advance of the due date (preferably by means of which e-tracking is possible). Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected / may not be processed.

Candidates may deposit application fee in SBI or ICICI bank branches through printed e-Challan [printable while filling online form] for filling the online form (this application fee is non-refundable).

Note: Payment by cash at ICICI Bank – there is no extra bank service charge
Payment by cash at SBI Bank - Bank service charge is extra (Rs. 20/-).

Eligibility:
1) Candidates must have passed with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average of all subjects in Class 10.

2) Candidates must have passed with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks (average of 4 core subjects) in Class 12 / QE (Equivalent Qualifying Examination). Percentage of marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of English, Mathematics (excluding Business Mathematics) and best 2 other core subjects.

3) Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India / AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] (10+2+3 system).

4) Candidates must have one of following qualifications:
a) Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or
b) B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or
c) B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level.

5) Candidates of B.Sc. Honours must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in their Honours subject. Candidates of BCA and other graduate courses must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared.

6) Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in 2012 can also apply, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. At the time of the counselling they must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by 30 June 2012, they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor’s degree.

Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification with requisite marks as per item (5) above. They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks by 31 October 2012. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

7) Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU,
(b) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) calculated as per item (5) above. They must enclose photocopies of pass certificate and marksheets of qualifying examination with their application.

Notes:
(1) Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for equivalence (http://www.edcil.co.in) , and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU (website http://www.aiuweb.org) .
(2) In case any Board / University awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board / University. In case a University does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100.
(3) At any level of the studies [class X, class XII or graduation], a candidate / applicant must have passed all the required subjects at that level from the same Board/ University.

HOW TO APPLY:
The MCA Information Brochure 2012 - covers admissions to the 3-year (6-semester) full-time MCA programme 2012 offered at the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and its Extension Centres at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida. The programme will commence in July 2012.
Provisional selections for the MCA 2012 programme will be based on:
The performance of a candidate in the MCA 2012 Online Entrance Test, provided he/she meets the minimum eligibility criteria given in our advertisement / notification(s) on our website (please see - Sec 5)
How to Apply: (Please see Instructions also for details)
1. To apply for the MCA programme 2012, eligible candidates must complete and submit the online application form on our website and:
Ø Download the Bank Challan Form (SBI/ICICI) from our website to deposit the application fee for Rs.2,000/- (Rs.1,200/- for SC/ST) in favour of “Birla Institute of Technology” in a SBI / ICICI bank and enter the Challan number and other required details of the payment as issued by the bank within the given time period. (Note: Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances)
Ø Send a printout of the completed form along with two recent colour photographs (one pasted on the form and one attached by clip to the form) photocopies of all marksheets and certificates (see List of Enclosures) institute copy of Challan slip issued by the Bank (SBI/IICI)
in a stout A4 size envelope by Speedpost / reliable courier (means by which sender may track its movement on internet) to the office of Dean, Admission & Academic Coordination, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi – 835215, to reach positively by the due date. Write “Application for MCA 2012 on top of the envelope”.

2. You can use the Online Application Form to apply for the MCA programme of the Institute at any 1 or any 2 or any 3 or any 4 or any 5 or all 6 choices of Place for Study (Centre), by clicking the appropriate check box against the names of the Centres. However, you must select ALL your choices before you submit the form online and print the same, so that all your choices will be saved in the database. Please do not make any corrections or add any Choices of Centre by hand on the printout of the form, as these will not be saved to the database.



3. Please do not print a blank form and fill it by hand as this will not be accepted.

4. Incomplete applications or applications received without all required enclosures are liable to be rejected / may not be processed.

5. Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected / may not be processed.

6. Candidates should keep photocopies of their completed forms for their own reference

ELIGIBILITY:
1) Candidates must have appeared in CAT 2011 / CMAT 2012 and should have valid Score in CAT 2011 / CMAT 2012.

2) Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India / AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] (10+2+3 system).

3) Candidates with B.Sc. / B.A. / B. Com. qualification must have minimum 50% marks in average (40% for SC/ST) in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared [excluding optional subjects]. Percentage of marks for candidate with Honours degree will be computed on the basis of Honours’ subjects.

4) Candidates of other professional courses including BBA/BCA must have minimum 55% marks in average (40% for SC/ST) in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

5) Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in 2012 can also apply, provided they have obtained requisite marks or equivalent (as per item 3 or 4 above) based on latest available grades / marks at the time of applying, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. At the time of the counselling they must bring the following:

a) A certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by
30 June 2012, they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor’s degree.

b) A certificate in original from the Principal certifying that they have obtained
requisite marks or equivalent based on latest available grades / marks. Marks to be calculated as per item (3 or 4) above.

Ø The Institute will not use group discussions or personal interviews in the selection process
Ø However, candidates must meet the minimum academic requirements (see minimum eligibility criteria - Sec 4).

7. Although the Institute will use scores in CAT 2011 / CMAT 2012 to shortlist candidates for its two-year full time Post-Graduate Programme in Management, the IIM’s / AICTE have no role in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

Registration Numbers
1. Lists of eligible candidates with registration numbers [different from Form/ Application numbers] will be displayed on the Institute website, whose properly completed application forms with all required enclosures along with Institute copy of Challan slip issued by the Bank (SBI/ICICI) have been received within the stipulated time.
2. Candidates whose names appear in the lists may note their Registration Numbers and should come to attend the Counselling. They are advised to carry a photocopy of their completed application form at the time of Counselling.
3. Candidates must make a note of their registration numbers carefully, as the same will be required at the time of Counselling. No individual intimation will be sent to candidates.
4. Candidates, whose names do not appear in the lists of eligible candidates, may contact the Admissions Office at Mesra by telephone or fax or e-mail.
Sponsored candidates
Few seats in the full-time MBA programme at each Centre may be allotted to “Sponsored Candidates”, from reputed organizations in the Government / Private sector. Such candidates should normally have at least two years of executive / professional experience. They must also submit their applications in prescribed format, along with a letter of sponsorship from their organization. They must also go through the counselling procedures.
Candidates will be called for counselling as per schedules to be notified in due course.
Candidates who appear for counselling must carry a required set of documents to their Counselling Centre: Please see Sec 6 for details.
Candidates may appear for counselling at Mesra or Jaipur or Kolkata or Noida as per their choice given in their online application form.

Applications are invited by Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra from interested candidates for admission to full-time / part- time PhD programmes in the following Departments and Groups:

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Applicant shall possess,
(a) an MPhil / Master’s degree in Technology / Engineering / Pharmacy / Management / Architecture / or equivalent, with a minimum of 60% marks at Master’s level for General candidates (55% in case of:
(i) Full-Time Sponsored candidates with a minimum of three years professional experience, and
(ii) SC / ST candidates or

(b) an MPhil / Master’s Degree in Science / Humanities with a minimum of 55% marks at Master’s level for General candidates (50% in case of Full-Time Sponsored candidates with a minimum of three years professional experience, and SC / ST candidates) or (c) any other discipline approved by the Technical Council of the Institute from time to time.

Applicants with BTech / BE / BSc Engg. / BArch / BPharm / MBBS having a First Class or minimum of 70% marks at Graduation level for General candidates (65% in case of Full-Time Sponsored candidates with a minimum of three years professional experience, and 55% for SC / ST candidates) may also apply.

However, an applicant having professional qualifications such as Associate Member of Institution of Engineers (India) / Aeronautical Society of India or equivalent may be considered for admission to the PhD programme only after he/she completes the ME / MTech programme of any recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks at Master’s level (55% in case of Full-Time Sponsored candidates with a minimum of three years professional experience, and SC / ST candidates).

Candidates must have adequate proficiency in written and spoken English. Foreign nationals, excluding ex-students and faculty / staff members of BIT International Centres, possessing any of the qualification listed above shall be required to clear TOEFL or any other equivalent examination prescribed by the Technical Council of the Institute from time to time to become eligible for admission to the PhD programme.

Applications have been invited from interested and eligible candidates for admission to the following programmes of the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra for the session 2011-12.

a) PG Diploma in Clinical Research
b) PG Diploma in Clinical Data Management


Eligibility:
B. Pharm degree from PCI & AICTE approved Institute or must hold MBBS / B.Tech Biotechnology / BVSc / BDS / BAMS / M.Sc. Life Sciences / M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry / M.Sc. Biochemistry degree.

Selection Procedures:
Provisional selections to the PG Diploma in Clinical Research and Clinical Data Management programmes will be on the basis of previous academic record, written test and/or personal interviews, provided that the candidates fulfill the eligibility criteria. Syllabus of the test will be same as for GPAT 2011.

B.Pharm, BHMCT, B.Sc (FPT), Admissions 2011-2012

Applications for the following courses have been invited for admission to Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, for the Academic Year 2011-12.

1. Bachelor of Pharmacy - B. Pharm
2. Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology - BHMCT
3. Bachelor of Science in Food Processing Technology - B.Sc. (FPT)


Minimum Eligibility Criteria :
The minimum qualifications / eligibility criteria for admission to the B. Pharm, BHMCT and B.Sc. (FPT) programmes are:

B. Pharm:
a) Candidates must have passed Class 12 / I. Sc. or Equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE)
b) Candidates must have passed in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology in Class 12 / I. Sc. or Equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE) with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST).
c) Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of following 4 subjects - English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology

BHMCT:
a) Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 12 / Intermediate or Equivalent Qualifying Examination(QE) (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 50% marks in average (45% for SC/ST)
b) Candidates must have English in Class 12 / Intermediate or Equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE)
c) Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of best 4 subjects including English

B.Sc. (FPT):
B.Sc. (FPT): Pass in Class 12/ Equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE) with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate in best 4 subjects, including English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology

Others:
1. The maximum age limit for admission to all undergraduate programmes is 21 years (26 years for SC/ST candidates) as on 01.10.2011.
2. Candidates who have appeared for final examinations in 2011, whose results are not yet declared, can also apply. However, they must send copy of their Mark Sheet showing that they have secured the minimum required marks in qualifying examination.
