JAM-2011 for M.Sc at IITs on 8th May

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, will be conducting the Joint Admission Test (JAM-2011) on 08th May 2011 (Sunday), for admission to the full-time M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at different IITs for the Academic Year 2011.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION: Candidates applying for JAM-2011 under which the programmes are covered should be having following educational qualifications:

M.Sc. Applied Geology (IITB, IITR)/ Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Geology (IITKgp)/ M.Tech. Geological Technology (IITR)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree programme in Applied Geology (IITB): Bachelor's degree with Geology as a subject for three years/six semesters and any two subjects among Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biological Science. The candidate must have Mathematics at (10+2) level.

M.Sc. Applied Geophysics (IITB)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree programme in Applied Geophysics (IITB): Bachelor's degree with both Mathematics and Physics as subjects for two years and at least one of them as a subject for three years.

M.Sc. Applied Statistics and Informatics (IITB)/ M.Sc. Statistics (IITK)/ Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Mathematics (IITKgp.)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Operations Research (IITB): Bachelor's degree with either Mathematics or Statistics as a subject for at least two years or four semesters.

M.Sc. Biotechnology (IITB, IITR)/M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Biotechnology (IITB): Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science/ Agriculture / Pharmacy / Veterinary / Engineering / Medicine (MBBS).

M.Sc. Chemistry (IITB, IITD, IITG, IITH, IITK, IITM, IITR)/ Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Chemistry (IITKgp): Bachelor's degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years/six semesters and Mathematics at (10+2) level.

M.Sc. Mathematics (IITB, IITD, IITK, IITM)/ M.Sc. Mathematics and Computing (IITG)/ M.Sc. Applied Mathematics (IITR)/ M.Sc. Industrial Mathematics and Informatics (IITR): Bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters.

M.Sc. Physics (IITB, IITD, IITG, IITH, IITK, IITM, IITR)/ Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Physics (IITKgp)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Physics (IITB, IITK): Bachelor's degree with Physics as a subject for at least two years/ four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year/ two semesters.

Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Geophysics (IITKgp): Bachelor's degree with any two subjects among Physics, Mathematics and Geology for three years/ six semesters. The student should note that due to unavoidable circumstances, this programme at IIT Kharagpur is kept in abeyance for the academic year 2011-12. Further information on this programme, if any, will be made available on the website of JAM 2011.

M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Energy (IITB): Bachelor's degree with any one of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the remaining two subjects for at least one year/ two semesters.

M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science & Engineering (IITB): Bachelor's degree with any one of Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the other four subjects for at least one year/two semesters. The candidates should have Mathematics at (10+2) level.

M.Tech. Geophysical Technology (IITR): Bachelor's degree with Mathematics and Physics as subjects and anyone of the following subjects: Chemistry, Geology, Statistics, Electronics and Computer Science.

Master of Computer Applications [MCA] (IITR): Bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least one year for annual system candidates/ at least two papers of Mathematics for semester system candidates.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The candidates who qualify in JAM 2011 shall have at least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

APPLICATION: Candidates can submit Application Form in two different modes: Online and Offline. The preferred mode of application process is Online.

OFFLINE MODE:Candidate can obtain a packet containing Offline Application Form, Information Brochure and Envelope from designated Bank Branches of Punjab National Bank on cash payment or from  JAM Office, IIT Roorkee after handing over Demand Draft for appropriate amount.
 
ONLINE MODE:Candidates can apply online throgh the website: www.iitr.ac.in from 22nd December 2010 (Tuesday) to 24th January 2011 (Monday). Payment for online application is through Demand draft of appropriate amount to be submitted with the printout (PDF file) of the online application.

The details of application fee, which should be submitted through Demand draft, drawn in favour of 'Chairman, JAM 2011, IIT Roorkee', on any bank, payable at Roorkee are as follows:
Offline Mode: General/OBC: Male - Rs. 1000/-, Female - Rs. 900/- ; SC/ST/PD - Rs. 500/-
Online Mode: General/OBC: Male - Rs.  900/-, Female - Rs.  800/- ; SC/ST/PD - Rs. 400/-

Duly filled-in Application Form (Both Offline and Online) with appropriate enclosures have to be sent by Speed Post (preferably) or by Registered Post to The Organizing Chairman, JAM 2011, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247 667 so as to reach there on or before 31st January , 2011.
 
The same can also be handed over personally to JAM Office, IIT Roorkee.
