Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) BS-MS Dual Programme of IISER The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) have invited applications for admission to 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree Programme with major subjects in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at its centres in Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram for the academic session 2011-2012. Candidates seeking admission to BS-MS Dual Degree Programme have to apply through any of the following three modes/channels; the schedule for application /admission as given under: (i) Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) (http://www.iisc.ernet.in/kvpy ) (a) Results expected: March 2011 (b) IISER application window : 21st March-23rd June 2011 (c) IISER counseling: 2nd July 2011 Eligibility for applying: Students qualified in SA (2009)/SX (2010)/SB (2010)/SP (Passed 10+2 in 2010/2011) (ii) Indian Institute of Technology, Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) (http://www.iitg.ac.in/jee/ ) (a) Results expected: 25th May, 2011 (b) IISER application window : 9th June-23rd June 2011 (c) IISER counseling: 2nd July 2011 Eligibility for applying: Students obtaining a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and securing a rank in the regular merit list. (iii) State/Central Boards (a) School Boards results expected: Mid June 2011 (b) IISER application window : 15th June – 8th July 2011 (c) Aptitude test & counseling: 16th July 2011 Eligibility for applying: Students qualifying in Class XII in 2010 or 2011 in Science Stream. The cut-off percentage for INSPIRE fellowship of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to be used for the boards for Class X and XII are given in http://www.inspire-dst.gov.in/Inspire-Advertisement.pdf. For OBC (non-creamy) a 5% relaxation of the DST cut-off is tenable. The cut-off for SC/ST is 60% in Class X and Class XII for all boards. All state/central board students must also qualify in the IISER Science Aptitude Test. All admitted students are eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5000/- awarded by INSPIRE/ KVPY scheme of DST, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Applications for admission are to be submitted online at www.iiser-admissions.in. There will be a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST). Also candidates, selected for counseling, have to pay a non-refundable fee of (1) Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC applicants (2) Rs. 500/- for SC/ST.
