Applications have been invited by Malavya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Course of Session 2011.

Eligibility Requirements for Admission (PhD):

A. Essential Requirements for Full-time Scholars:
One of the following requirements is essential to be fulfilled by a candidate:

(a) Candidates holding Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology / Sciences / Management / Humanities & Social Sciences or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institutes or having minimum 60% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded (except in Humanities & Social Science where the requirement is first class with a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 6.0). For candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC or physically handicapped category, the minimum requirement of percentage of marks in aggregate is 55% and CGPA is 6.0 on a 10-point scale. The reserve category candidates must submit the required certificate from the competent authority along with the duly completed application form.

(b) In exceptional cases, applicants with BTech Degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institutes wherever letter grades are awarded or 80% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded may be considered eligible for admission.

Additionally he must possess the qualifications in the relevant field as given below:

Civil Engineering:
ME / MTech or equivalent degree in respective and relevant engineering discipline.

Structural Engineering:
BE / BTech Civil and MTech (Structural Engineering / Geotechnical / Rock Mechanics / Earthquake Engineering or any other relevant field of Civil Engineering).

Chemical Engineering:
BTech / MTech (with Mathematics at 10+2 level) or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, OR BTech / MTech or equivalent degree in any branch of
Engineering / Chemical Technology and interdisciplinary areas, OR MSc with Mathematics at BSc Level in disciplines consistent with the research areas of the department.

Chemistry:
MSc in Chemistry / Medicinal / Pharmaceutical / Environmental and related disciplines with chemistry as one of the optional subject.

Electrical Engineering:
ME / MTech or equivalent degree in respective & relevant Engineering disciplines.

Computer Engineering / Information Technology:
BE / BTech in Electrical Engineering / Electronics & Communication Engg. / Electronics Instrumentation and Control / Computer Science and Engineering / Computer Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Information Technology / Communication and Computer Engineering and ME / MTech in Computer Science and Engineering / Computer Engineering / Information Technology / VLSI. All the candidates are expected to have sound mathematical, computational background and relevant programming skills.

Electronics & Communication Engineering:
BE / BTech and ME / MTech in Electrical / Electronics / Computer / Communication / Telecommunication / Instrumentation / Control / Microelectronics or equivalent discipline consistent with research areas of department.

Humanities and Social Sciences:
MA / MCom or equivalent degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) Master’s degree in Science with 60% marks (or equivalent Grade) may be considered for research areas consistent with the academic background and special interest.

Mathematics :
MA / MSc in Mathematics / Computer Science / Statics.

Mechanical Engineering:
BTech / MTech degree or equivalent degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Production Engg. OR BTech / MTech degree / disciplines consistent with the research areas of the department.

Metallurgical & Materials Engineering:
BE / BTech degree in Metallurgical / Materials / Chemicals / Cermic / P&I and ME / MTech degree in Metallurgical / Materials / Ceramic, MSc in Physics / Materials Science / Chemistry (provided mathematics as subject at BSc level)

Physics:
MSc in Physics / Applied Physics / Engineering Physics / allied areas of Physics / interdisciplinary areas in physical sciences and technology.

Management Studies:
MTech / MBA or equivalent, BE / BTech / BArch / BPharma / MSc / MCA or equivalent.

On-line filling of application form is mandatory and to be done at Web Site: http://academic.mnit.ac.in

Thereafter, application form may be saved as pdf-file from the web site, printed and be sent along with the Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs.250/- for SC / ST / PH category) in favour of the Registrar, MNIT, Jaipur payable at Jaipur.

Attested Photostat copies of the following certificates have to be enclosed along with the Application Form:

i. High School / Secondary School certificate in support of age / date of birth. No other certificate is acceptable in support of the age / date of birth.
ii. Provisional / Final Degree certificate / Migration Certificate in original must be attached.
iii. The Marks Sheet / Grade Card of Qualifying Examination.
iv. Character Certificate from the Director / Dean of Students Affairs of the Institute from where the candidate has graduated (For Full-time course applicants only).
v. Character Certificate from two persons of repute where the candidate has been residing for the last two years (For part-time course applicants only).
vi. Certificate from the employer on the official stationary and rubber stamp of the organization / institution (For full-time / part-time sponsored candidates only).
vii. GATE score card. (For full-time regular candidates).

Important Dates:
Last date for on-line filling as well as of receipt of printed form by post: 11th November 2011
Display of list of eligible candidates: 18th November 2011
Interview / test: 29th /30th November 2011
Registration: 20th December 2011
Classes commences: 20th December 2011
