invited for Ph. D. Programme for January 2013 Session
The
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory is a premier establishment of the
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. CSIR-NML
pursues research in diverse areas ranging from mineral processing, extractive
metallurgy, alloy/materials design and development, corrosion and surface
engineering, computational materials science, structural integrity and
remaining life assessment, life cycle assessment and cleaner and sustainable
metals production.
It
carries out R&D in the areas of Mineral Processing: Agglomeration, Coal
& Iron Ore, Petrography; Extractive Metallurgy: Hydro-Bio Metallurgy,
PyroMetallurgy, Electrometallurgy, Process Modelling; Surface Engineering:
Corrosion, Tribology, Surface Modification; Applied and Analytical Chemistry:
Surface and Water Chemistry; Materials Engineering and Evaluation: Physical
and Mechanical Metallurgy, Alloy Development,
Advanced Materials and Processing, Microstructural Characterization, Mechanical
Behavior, Metal forming and Joining, Non-destructive Evaluation, Materials Modeling;
Energy & Environment: Waste Processing and Utilization, Metal Recycling, Life
Cycle Assessment.
It
has excellent infra-structure for pursuing an exciting research career as

CSIR-NML
is inviting applications from eligible candidates for admission into Ph.D. program
under Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi in Materials & Metallurgical Engg under Engineering Sciences, in the ensuing session commencing from Jan’
2013.
Eligibility
PhD (Engineering)
Candidates
with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record or
a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/Technology in Metallurgical/ Mineral/ Chemical/ Mechanical
Engg (for Metal forming and Mechanical Metallurgy) or Materials Science with a
good academic record are eligible for admission. They must have qualified for
M.Tech admission through a valid GATE Score or valid CSIR-SRF and equivalent
fellowships.
Fast
Track
PhD in
Engineering
Fresh
B.Tech or equivalent (GATE or NET qualified) having CPI of 8/10 in the area of
Metallurgical/Mineral /Chemical/Mechanical Engg or Materials Science from
well-known universities/ institutes.
M.Sc
Students having NET-JRF or Lecturership: M.Sc Students must have passed B.Sc
with Phys, Chem and Math having 60% marks with
consistently good academic record from well-known universities/ institutes.
M.Sc
Students with CSIR-SRF or any other equivalent fellowships are also eligible to
apply
Note: Existing Research Fellows/Projects Assistants
(working at CSIR labs for a minimum of one year) who fulfill the eligibility
criteria mentioned above are also eligible to apply.
Selection
Selection
for admission to the Ph.D. Program shall be on the basis of interview of short listed
candidates at CSIR-NML. The interview for selection will be conducted at
CSIRNML, Jamshedpur.
