The National Institute of Design (NID) offers 4-year Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (CDPD) and 2 ½-year Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru Campuses.

GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN DESIGN (GDPD)
4-year GDPD programme (includes a Foundation year) is offered at main campus, Ahmedabad. Total number of seats: 100

FACULTY OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN-Product Design, Furniture & Interior Design, Ceramic & Glass Design.
FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION DESIGN-Graphic Design, Animation Film Design, Film & Video Communication, Exhibition Design. FACULTY OF TEXTILE, APPAREL AND LIFESTYLE ACCESSORY DESIGN-Textile Design

• Documents to be attached: Relevant GDPD Hall Ticket (both copies) duly filled in with recent photographs. Attested copies of birth .certificate, marksheets of equivalent grades/levels of SSC . & HSC (those who are studying presently in HSC, must submit bonafide certificate from the school/ college.

Attested copies of birth certificate, marksheets of equivalent grades/level of SSC, HSC, completed years of Graduation and' Degree certificate / Provisional certificate / Passing certificate (those who are studying presently in final year of graduation must submit bonafide certificate from the college). In case Degree/Certificate has been obtained from some University/Board of any other country. Then an equivalence certificate must be obtained from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission.

APPLICATION FORMS
Forms can be. downloaded and printed from the website admissions.nid.edu and sent to the Admissions office, National Institute of Design. Paldi, Ahrrtedabad-38007. along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- for General Category and Rs. 750/- for Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH) drawn on any bank in favor of 'National Institute of Design' payable at ahmedabad,
Reserved category candidates must send an attested copy of the relevant certificate from the competent authority. SC/ST candidates must send their caste certificate. PH candidates must send disability certificate from the Chief Medical Officer. OBC candidates must send non-creamy layer certificate from the Collectorate.
Those applying for two post-graduate disciplines must send two separate application forms along with two •separate sets of relevant documents. For eligibility criteria and other details, please refer the website.

TEST CENTRES -Tests for GDPD & PGDPD for eligible candidates will be held at: *Ahmedabad * Bengaluru * Bhopal * Chennai Chandigarh * Delhi * Guwahati * Hyderabad *Kolkata * Lucknow * Mumbai * Nagpur * Noida.

Incomplete or incorrectly filled application forms/ forms not satisfying eligibility criteria/ farms without required documents/ forms without required fees will fee rejected. The application form fee (Rs.l,500/-/ Rs.750) for rejected applications will not be refunded. No official communication mill be made regarding rejected application forms.

Overseas Candidates
Overseas candidates applying for admission into Graduate Diploma Programme in Design/ Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design should send their application along with other applicants in India by November 2, 2012. Such students may attend admission test and interview at Ahmedabad.15 percent seats in Graduate Diploma Programme in Design/ Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design are reserved for applicants from foreign countries/ SAARC region/ NRIs on supernumerary basis.They should fill in the prescribed application form and send the same with their portfolio to Admissions Office, NID on or before November 2, 2012. Procedure for applying under foreign nationals / SAARC / NRI category:

Candidates seeking admission under this category should apply in the prescribed Application Form which should be duly filled in and accompanied by the following documents:
An attested copy of the relevant pages of the passport containing details of the applicant.
An attested copy of proof of status of NRI/ SAARC/ foreign national.
A Demand Draft of US $ 30 in favour of National Institute of Design, payable at Ahmedabad.
Relevant GDPD/ PGDPD Hall Ticket (both copies) duly filled in with recent photographs.
The other fees will be as applicable to Indian students. The candidates selected under this quota will be required to pay the Fee (as given above) for each academic year consisting of two semesters and would need to obtain a valid residential permit or student visa for the prescribed duration of the programme.
For GDPD candidates: Attested copies of marksheets of equivalent grades/ levels of SSC and HSC (those who are studying presently in HSC, must submit bonafide certificate from school/ college).
For PGDPD candidates: Attested copies of marksheets of equivalent grades/ levels of SSC, HSC, completed years of graduation and degree certificate/ provisional certificate/ passing certificat (those who are studying in final year of graduation must submit bonafide certificate from the college).
Attested copies of experience certificate/s, wherever applicable.
In case Degree/Certificate has been obtained from some University/Board of any other country then an equivalence certificate must be obtained from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission.
The medium of instruction in NID is English and all aspirants applying to NID must possess working knowledge of English language.

Seats remaining vacant will lapse and not be converted to any other category.

Yearly Expenses for:
Annual Tuition Fee for SAARC countries, African countries, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam and for children of Indian Nationals working in Gulf Countries:       US$ 5,000
Annual Tuition Fee for NRIs: US$ 8000
Annual Tuition Fee for foreign students other than those mentioned above:            US$ 12000
