PhD Spring admissions 2013-2014


Applications for admission in the following academic programme for the Spring semester of session 2013-14 are invited by National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand

Ph.D:
Full Time / Sponsored in disciplines of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication  Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Applications, Mathematics and Physics.
Scholarship to eligible full-time candidates is admissible as per Institute rules.

Eligibility: Ph.D Programme:
The candidates for Ph.D. Programme may be offered admission, based on certain minimum academic requirements to be satisfied by the candidates as given below:
1) Faculty of Engineering:
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Technical Institute or University. [Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates]

2) Faculty of Science (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics):
Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sciences in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University. [Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates].

3) Faculty of Computer Applications
MCA / M. Tech in Engineering with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University. [Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates]. Candidates having valid GATE/CSIR/NBHM/UGC-NET score will get preference.

How to apply for admission to Ph.D. program

Applications form, duly filled in, must contain a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 1,500/- (Rs. 750/- for SC / ST candidates) towards application fee drawn in favour of Director, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur payable at SBI RIT Jamshedpur (Code 1882) and should reach Chairman – (PG & R) Admission NIT Jamshedpur 831 014 on or before 29-11-2013

The following documents (whichever applicable) arranged in the order given below should be enclosed along with the duly filled application:
i) Three recent passport size photographs of the candidate attested by Gazetted Officer / Principal of the College / Institute last attended.
ii) Self attested copy of GATE score or UGC/CRIR/NBHM/UGC-NET fellowship.
iii) Self attested copy of marks-sheet & degree certificate of the qualifying examination
iv) Self attested copy of provisional certificate of the qualifying examination.
v) Self attested copy of Under-Graduate degree certificate and marks-sheets.
vi) Self attested copy of certificate of matriculation/ Xth class as the proof of age of the candidate.
vii) Self attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates from the competent authority (not below the rank of Tahsildar)
viii) Self attested copy of caste certificate in case of OBC candidate from competent authority (not below the rank of Tahsildar) indicating the status regarding Creamy layer for the financial year ending 31st March 2013.
ix) Self attested copy of experience certificate
x) Research Proposal (SoP) as per the performa
xi) Profile of the employing company (in case of SS category)
xii) No-Objection-Certificate from the employer (in case of SS category) in support of your application.
xiii) Profile of the organization/ employer in case of SS category candidate
xiv) No-Objection-Certificate duly signed by the HOD/HOS in case of employee of NIT Jamshedpur
xv) Self attested copy of credentials including AICTE recognized short-term courses attended, research publications, professional qualifications etc.
xvi) Demand draft towards application fee as per category for the candidate.
