Department of Education (Alipore Campus),
University of Calcutta is going to organize 10 days Research Methodology Course
for Ph.D Students from 6th Jan to 16th Jan 2014.
Preference will be given to S.C/ S.T or other
minority students.
There is no fee for the course. The 10 days Course
is funded by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.
Potential candidates are required to submit the
dully filled up application form forwarded by their Ph. D Supervisor/ Head of
the Institution along with necessary documents to the Course Director, Dr
Santoshi Halder, Department of Education (3rd Floor), University of Calcutta, 1
Reformatory Street, Alipore Campus, Kolkata-700027 by 31st Dec, 2013. The form

Objectives of the Course:
The proposed training programme has been designed
to achieve the following specific objectives
To enhance methodological skills of the young
scholars who are engaged in doctoral research work or involved in planning for
their social science research work.
To inculcate conceptual understanding about the
formulation of research questions and hypotheses, construction of
questionnaires, tools, sample selection, framing sampling techniques, etc. in
social science research.
To equip the participants in quantitative and
qualitative research methods, and strategies.
To sharpen participants’ competence in computer
applications and usage of SPSS in social sciences
