Summer Admissions 2014


Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu-632002, has notified the Summer Admissions 2014. The Programmes to which admissions are being made include MBBS, BSc in Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Degree Courses known as the Group A courses and Diploma in Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Diploma Courses & Analytical Clinical Pharmacology etc; coming under the Group B Courses.

For all courses under Group A, applicants should have been born on or before 31st December, 1997. The upper age limit will be 40 years for AHS Degree Courses and 30 for BSc Nursing with 35 years for SC/ST for BSc Nursing.

Applicant should have passed the 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent, after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English. Applicant must have 60% marks at +2 level in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together) and an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive examinations and should have passed in English. For Backward Categories, the requirement is 60% in each and 130/200 in aggregate. It would be 55% in each and 120/200 aggregate for MBC and 40% in each and 80/200 aggregate for SC/ST applicants.

For B.Sc Nursing, applicant should have a pass with 45% aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Only unmarried women applicants are eligible to apply.

For Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT), Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), B.Sc MLT, BSc Optometry Technology, BSc Medical Records Science, BSc Critical Care Technology, BSc Dialysis Technology, BSc Nuclear Medicine Technology, BSc Radiology & Imaging Technology, BSc Radiotherapy Technology, BSc Medical Sociology, BSc Cardio Pulmonary Perfusion Care Technology, BSc Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology, BSc Neuro-electrophysiology, BSc Accident and Emergency Care Technology, BSc Cardiac Technology Programmes, applicant should have a pass in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For admission to Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology and Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics, applicant should have a pass in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. For some courses, applicants with minimum of two years’ experience in the same speciality can apply for a special paper with questions pertaining to that speciality. Details are given in the Prospectus. An applicant can apply for a maximum of 7 courses in Group A.

The eligibility conditions for the Group B Courses are given in detail in the Bulletin of Summer admissions that may be downloaded from http://admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in. Here, if not specified, applicants have to be at least 17 years of age and less than 45 years of age as on 31st December, 2014. Ability to handle English as a medium of learning is important for all courses. An applicant may apply for a maximum of 5 courses with a maximum of two entrance examination papers in Group B.

Applications can be submitted only online at http://admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in up to 27th March 2014. Applicant should fill the form online, check the details for correctness and submit. Applicant has to upload his/her photograph and signature in the process and also pay the application fee.

The application fee includes a basic administrative fee of Rs.800 plus a registration fee per course applied. For Group A Programmes, the registration fee (MBBS, BSc (Nursing) & AHS Degree Courses) is Rs.500/- per course. For Group B Programmes (Diploma in Nursing and other Allied Health Science diplomas), application fee is Rs.100/- per course. For MSc courses and Fellowship in Analytical Clinical Pharmacology, it is Rs.500/- per course.

The application fee can be paid by Demand draft, Challan or online. For payment by way of Demand draft, the same has to be taken in favour of ‘C.M.C. Vellore Association a/c’ on any Scheduled Bank, payable in Vellore. This has to be done before filling the application form. Fee can be paid as a challan at no extra cost at any branch of ICICI bank in India. A challan will be generated when filling payment details in the application form. Applicant should mention FC-CMC-V on the challan. Application fee can also be paid online using Credit Card.

Applicant should scan and keep a copy of his/her photograph and signature before filling the online application. The photograph must be a recent colour passport size photograph taken after 1st February, 2014 in a light background, in .jpeg format not exceeding 80 KB (Width-150 pixels & Height-150 pixels). Signature should be scanned in .jpeg format not exceeding 50 KB (Width-150 pixels & Height-50 pixels).

When applying for more than one course, candidates must list the courses in the order of preference in the application form. The last date for submission of online applications is 27th March 2014. After successful submission of the application, applicant should take a print out of the completed application form and the application confirmation page for reference.

Those making the payment of registration fee through DD/challan, have to send the proof of payment to CMC Vellore.  In case of DD, applicant should write his/her name and application number on the back of the demand draft and send the original DD to CMC Vellore. In case of payment by Challan, the original challan has to be sent to CMC Vellore. Those who are required to send any document should send the same also. DD/Challan and documents where applicable, should reach the Office of the Registrar, CMC, Vellore-632002, latest by 4th April 2014.

The selection process includes a Computer Base Entrance Test to be held at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kottayam, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Puducherry, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore, Vijayawada & Penang (Malaysia). This will be held on 23.5.2014 (morning) for Group A courses and on 23.5.2014 (afternoon) for Group B subjects. The entrance test for the Group A degree courses and the Science test for the Group B diploma courses will consist of multiple-choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Ability with emphasis on Speed and Accuracy, and a few questions on issues of current topical interest.

The test will be conducted in English. More details are given in the bulletin. Sample questions are given in Annexure III of the Bulletin. Performance in this test will be the basis for being called for the Step-2, which includes practical tests and interviews and final selections. The General Paper (Non Science) for Group B will consist of multiple choice questions of a general nature, including very basic science, general knowledge, current awareness and general ability. More details related to the selection process, availability of seats, fee structure etc is given in the bulletin.
