National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) for 2014-15, conducted by the Council of Architecture, to facilitate institutions, students and public at large for admission to First year of 5 year B.Arch Degree Course at all recognized Institutions all over country will be conducted in two Phases, with Phase I from 14.3.2014 to 25.5.2014 and Phase-II from 1.6.2014 to 31.8.2014 on working days except national holidays at designated Test Centers as per the list given at http://www.nata.in  NATA is the Aptitude test to be taken by those seeking admissions to B Arch Programme in Government, Govt. Aided & unaided schools / colleges of Architecture.

Registration for NATA will commence on 1.3.2014 and appointments at Test Centres will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. For seeking appointment for the NATA Test, applicants should contact the appropriate Test Center and Register /take appointment well in advance to get preferred test date. Any person who has passed SSC (Std X) or equivalent examination and examinations of higher levels than SSC (Std X)/equivalent examination, can appear for NATA.

However, only candidates who have qualified an aptitude test in Architecture and have secured at least 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects, will be eligible for admission to B.Arch Course.

NATA 2014 Registration Form can be filled and submitted online at http://www.nata.in  by paying fees of Rs. 1000/- either through Credit card/Debit card/Net banking. Fee can also be paid through a Challan that can be generated by the applicant from the website and depositing the amount through cash in any of the branches of the ICICI Bank in India. Applicants will be required to pay additional charges as ‘processing charges’ to the Bank as follows.

In case of Domestic Credit Cards, it will be 1.25% of the NATA Fee plus service tax as applicable. In case of Domestic Debit Cards, it is 0.75% of the NATA Fees plus service tax as applicable. For Domestic Multiple Bank Net Banking Payment Gateway, it is Rs.15/- per transaction. For Collection through PAN India ICICI Branches in cash (through challan), is is Rs.30/- per transaction. For International Credit Card / Debit Card the charges will be as per the policy of the Bank.

Once an applicant registers online for NATA, no corrections are possible. Candidate will have to apply afresh. The printout of the Registration Form submitted online should be taken by the applicant to test center where the applicant wishes to take appointment for Test. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applicant may register well in advance to get a preferred test date. Those interested in B Arch admissions should take the test at the earliest to ensure that the candidate's score card / Mark list are ready in time for submission to the admission authorities at the time of applying for admission.

Appointment once scheduled cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. There will be no refund of NATA test fees under any conditions.

For Registering, applicant should have a valid email address. When registering online, it should be ensured that the spelling of the candidate's name matches the name printed on the identification document(s) the candidate will present at the Test Center. If this information does not match, the candidate will not be permitted to appear in test and his / her test fee will be forfeited. Applicant should approach the Test Center located at college/school of Architecture at a location convenient to the candidate with the print out of the online submitted form and the following documents.
(i) Attested copy of Std. X or equivalent exam mark-list
(ii) One recent passport size colour photograph, to be pasted on the registration form
(iii) An attested copy of any valid document of identification bearing photograph and signature of the candidate
(iv) Proof towards payment of NATA Fees (Online Payment or copy of the Challan)

On submission of the copy of the NATA Form at the Test Centre for appointment, an Appointment voucher will be issued to the candidate by the Test center. The Appointment voucher will show the Candidate ID, Appointment Number and Exam Key and will also confirm the candidate's test date, time of test and Test Center. The Appointment Number and Exam Key are for use by the applicant to log in at the time of the test. There will be two counterfoils on the appointment voucher. Applicant should not sign the counterfoil in advance.

The applicant has to sign the counterfoil in presence of the Hall supervisor at the time of the test, and hand over the same to him / her. Applicant should sign the counterfoil only when the hall supervisor asks the applicant to do so. If the hall supervisor finds the counterfoil already signed, he/she may disallow the candidate to proceed with the test and his candidature will get forfeited. Candidate will be required to sign the Test Center attendance register before and after the test session and any time the candidate leaves or enter the testing room.

The candidate must have an acceptable and valid Identification document (ID) details of which are mentioned on the appointment voucher, with signature, and appointment voucher to be admitted to a Test Center. Applicant should report to the test center at least 30 minutes before scheduled time of test. If the candidate arrives at the Test Center without the required identification, the Test Center in-charge will not admit the candidate and the candidate will not be allowed to take the test and will forfeit the test fee. Name changes will not be allowed under any circumstances. If the candidate's name has changed for any reason, including marriage, the candidate still must present primary identification in the name under which he / she made the appointment, failing which, the candidate will not be permitted to appear in test. Marriage certificates and divorce decrees cannot be used to confirm name differences.

Acceptable primary identification documents include
(i) A government-issued identification document that has not expired (including but not limited to passport, permanent driver's license, state ID cards, national identification, UID card) in original
(ii) Std XII exam admit card with photo and signature (in original) for candidates awaiting 10+2 or equivalent exam results
(iii) Student ID card from the institute where he / she is currently enrolled and Confirmation of identity letter from the candidate's educational institution (in original)
If the candidate's primary identification is short of either a photo or a signature, he / she must present one of the following supplemental IDs in addition to the primary ID to meet the photo and/or signature requirements.
(i) A government-issued identification document that has not expired (including but not limited to passport, driver's license, state ID cards, national identification)
(ii) Confirmation of identity letter from the candidate's educational institution. The confirmation of identity letter must contain the candidate's date of birth; a recent, recognizable photo; the candidate's signature; and the date issued. The confirmation of identity letter must be typed on the original letterhead of the educational institution the candidate attend (ed), and the signature of the school official and the school seal must overlap the candidate's photo. A letter of identity is valid for only one year from the date of issue.

Unacceptable Identification Documents include (i) Any expired ID (ii) Credit card of any kind (iii) Learner's driving license or any temporary identification document (iv) Employee identification card (v) Photocopies (Attested / unattested) of the acceptable identification documents.

Applicant should also bring three or four sharpened soft-lead (2B & HB) pencils other than mechanical pencils, and a good eraser, set of colours (Water/ Poster colours, crayons, pastels) with appropriate instruments (Brushes, dish, etc.), Geometry instrument box, Blue ink pen / Blue ink ball point pen etc.

The test will have two parts, a paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test. The test aims at measuring the aptitude of the candidate through two sections - a paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity. The Drawing Test is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions. The Aesthetic Sensitivity Test is a computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions. There is no Negative marking in this test. There are no provisions for revaluation for either of the tests.

The score card of NATA will be available on NATA website in e-format. Usually, the score cards will be posted on the website on the fourth working day after the test. The candidate, after fourth day may check the score directly from website giving his / her candidate ID. However, print out taken by the candidate of such score card will be only for reference and information. Candidate, however, may use print out of this score card while applying for the admission if the admission authority calls for the same. Original score card will be retrieved and verified by the admission authority directly from NATA server. Only the score card stored on NATA server is valid and no print/ hard copy will be considered valid.

The NATA score shall be valid for a period of two years from the year in which the applicant appeared for the NATA Test.  NATA score reporting is cumulative. Current NATA policy states that the candidate's scores are retained for the two years from the date of last test taken.

As per Council of Architecture regulations, a candidate applying to any school / college of architecture in India should have 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subject and as per admission guidelines prescribed by CoA and have achieved 40% score in NATA (at least 80/200), for consideration of admission into first year of 5-year B.Arch. Degree Course.

The admissions will be carried out by the Competent Authority -Government or University, or such Authorities/Institutions Concerned (School/College of Architecture)/Association or federation of Institutions (Schools/College of Architecture) as approved by the Government/University, based on the marks obtained in NATA and the qualifying examinations in the ratio of 50:50. The reservation policy for admission as applicable from time to time by the Central/State Government shall be followed.

After receiving score card / Mark list and HSC / std XII results, the candidate may apply for admission to any of the participating institutions as per the time schedule specified by the appropriate admission authority, along with all the documents desired by it.

NATA can be given as many number of times as desired by the candidate. For every attempt, however, a new NATA Registration form is to be submitted online by the candidate at the NATA website. The mark list will show the average of marks scored by the candidate in his last attempt and his previous valid score. One should not register for repeat attempt unless the score card for previous attempt is received.

Candidate, while seeking the repeat test appointment must inform the test center of the previous attempts and present copy of previous Appointment voucher/ Score card. If any candidate is found registering afresh despite earlier appearance for NATA, he/ she will forfeit his/her candidature, his/her all previous scores will be cancelled and he/she will be barred from appearing for NATA again.
