for Admission to Ph.D. Programme in Biotechnology, 2014 (February)

Applications are invited against 16 vacancies for Ph.D. Programme in Biotechnology from eligible Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Physical Sciences Post Graduate students who would be placed under the supervision of the following Principal Investigators (mentors) for the pursuance of their Ph.D degree.

Candidates are requested to download the application form from the website of the University of Calcutta or collect the same from the office of the Department of Biotechnology, Calcutta University and submit the duly filled application within 13th February 2014 to the same office (Department of Biotechnology, University of Calcutta, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700019) along with a photocopy of the receipt of the requisite admission fee of Rs.100 (to be paid in the University’s counter for cash receipt in cash or as a demand draft).

The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ examination of 1 hour duration to be held in this department on 15th February 2014 at 12 PM. Successful candidates will appear for an interview on the same day (15th February 2014) at 3pm in the office of the Head & Coordinator, Department of Biotechnology and GCGEB 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700019 to be considered for final selection. Candidates who have qualified NET/GATE (or equivalent examination) or have M.Tech or M.Phil degrees are exempted from appearing in the admission test and would have to directly appear for the interview on 15th February, 2014 to be considered for final selection.
