ADMISSION NOTICE 2015
THREE YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE IN DRAMATIC ARTS (2015-2016)
National School of Drama, is an autonomous
institution, under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, invites application
for admission to three-year full-time (residential) Diploma Course in Dramatic
Arts of Academic Year 2015-18. The course starts from July 2015 and aims at
training students to become professionals in the area of acting, direction,
design and other theatre related disciplines.
Medium of
instruction: Hindi/ English
ELIGIBILITY
FOR ADMISSION
Essential
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for admission are:
Graduation in any subject from a recognized
university in India.
Working Knowledge in Hindi and English
Active participation in at least 6 plays or any
other field related to theatre.
Age:
The course is open to all men and women between the
ages of 20 to 30 years, AS ON 1.7.2015.
The upper age limit is relaxed by five years for
candidates belonging to the SC / ST categories only.
RESERVATION
FOR SC/ST/OBC/PHYSICALLY DISABLED PERSONS: Out of 26 seats, 4 seats are
reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes; 1+1 seat is RESERVED
for scheduled tribes including N.T. 7 SEATS ARE reserved OBC (except Creamy
Layer as notified by the Government) and physically disabled persons, as per
Govt. of India rules.
SELECTION:
An Expert Committee constituted by the School will assess the aptitude and
talent of the candidates & its decision will be final. Any CANVASSING in
this regard will be treated as a disqualification.
CENTRE(S)
FOR PRELIMINARY TEST/AUDITION AND FINAL WORKSHOP: A preliminary
test/audition will be conducted at six centres i.e.
Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow &
Guwahati.

The candidates qualifying in this test will have to
attend a workshop of 5 days in the NSD
premises from 16th to 20th
June 2015, for final selection. For this workshop, they will be paid D.A.
and II class train / bus fare from the place of their residence to Delhi &
back by the shortest route on submission of the ticket/ cash receipt and will
also be provided accommodation on a modest sharing basis. FINANCIALASSISTANCE: All selected students will be given
scholarship of Rs. 6000/- p.m. to meet their academic and other expenses.
PHYSICAL
FITNESS: The students selected for admission will have to undergo a medical
test for physical fitness at NSD, New Delhi. Their final selection is subject
to clearance of the fitness test
HOW TO
APPLY: To receive the application form and prospectus (in English &
Hindi) by post, please write to The
Academic Section, National School of Drama, Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road,
New Delhi–110001 along with a crossed Demand Draft/Pay Order, payable at
Delhi, of Rs. 225/- (Rupees two
hundred twenty five only) including postal charges in favour of The Director, National School of Drama, New
Delhi. Request for receiving the application form by post should reach the
School by 25.05.2015.
The application form & prospectus will also be
available from the Book Shop of the National School of Drama from 10.04.2015 to 08.05.2015 on cash
payment of Rs. 150/- between 10.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M. & 2.00 P.M. to 5.00
P.M. on working days.
The application form can also be downloaded from
the school website www.nsd.gov.in from 10.04.2015.
The downloaded application form must be sent along with a Demand Draft of Rs.
150/- in favour of The Director,
National School of Drama, New Delhi in an envelope titled ‘Application for
Admission—2014-2017’. Forms sent in envelopes without DD/Payorder will not
be entertained. Application forms dully filled in & complete in all
respects must reach The Academic
Section, National School of Drama, Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New
Delhi–110001 on or before 08.05.2015. No application form will be entertained
after the last date in any circumstances.
