The NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI established in 2008 by Act No. 1 of 2008 is premier Law University established in the capital city of India. The University invites applications for B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes for the academic year 2012-13 commencing from August, 2012. Eligibility, total seats & other details for these programmes are as under:
FIVE-YEAR B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)
Eligibility: Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or equivalent Examination with 50% of marks. The candidates appearing in the 12th standard examination in March/April, 2012 can also apply.
Age: Below 21 years as on 1 July, 2012 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Total Seats: 80 [70 seats on merit through All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]. Foreign Nationals to be eligible should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.
Reservation: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 3% for Persons with Disabilities.
Note: One additional seat for Kashmiri Migrants after approval from Governing Council of the University. The candidates have to apply, appear in the Entrance Test and fulfill the eligibility criteria as applicable.
LL.M.
Eligibility: LL.B. or an equivalent Degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). The candidates appearing in final LL.B. examination in April/May, 2012 can also apply.
Total Seats: 20 + 5 seats for Foreign Nationals. Foreign Nationals are exempted from Entrance Test.
Reservation: 15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 3% for Persons with Disabilities.
Ph.D.
Eligibility: LL.M. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). For detailed eligibility conditions visit University website.
Admission to B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes will be through AILET to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna on May 6, 2012(Sunday).
Interested candidates may apply along with a Demand Draft of Rs.2,500/- (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) for General Candidates, Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PD) drawn in favour of "REGISTRAR, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI", payable at Delhi along with copies of requisite Caste/PD Certificate. Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of SC/ST category are exempted from application fee. These courses on ‘Competition Policy and Law’ are specially designed to assist Professionals, Executives and Students of Business Management, Economics, Law, Chartered Accountancy (CA) and Company Secretaryship (CS) acquire relevant professional skills and gain first-mover advantage.
You are eligible if you are:
• A Graduate in any discipline from a university/institution recognised by the UGC or
any other regulatory body.
OR
• A student in final year of graduation in any discipline from a university/institution
recognised by the UGC or any other regulatory body (Subject to successful
completion of graduation within specified timeline).
OR
• A student who has completed first three years of graduation of a five year
integrated programme
OR
• An International student who has graduated from a recognized university.
(Regarding the recognition status of the foreign university, the student should produce the relevant document/declaration at the time of admission, and such admissions will be subject to due approval).
How and where do I register for the Courses?
The registration for the courses has commenced from 16th January, 2012 and will be
open till 31st March, 2012. The registration and admission to the courses shall be
subject to the candidate’s fulfilling the eligibility norms and approval by the Joint Admission Committee of NLUD and CIRC.

Can I pay the Course Fee in instalments?
For Admission in Certificate Course:
− Indian participants can either pay the entire amount of INR 25,000 at the time of
admission or in three equal instalments of INR9,000 each.
− Apart from one time payment option, overseas participants can also pay their fee in three equal instalments of USD 250.
− Both Indian as well as overseas participants will need to deposit full fee within 90 days of commencement of the Course.
For Admission in Diploma Course:
− Indian participants can either pay the entire amount INR. 45,000 at the time of
admission or in three equal instalments of INR 16,000 each.
− Apart from onetime payment option, overseas participants can also pay their fee in
three equal instalments of USD 400.
− Both Indian as well as overseas participants will need to deposit full fee within 90 days of commencement of the Course.
In whose favour should the demand draft be?
Applicants need to send demand drafts in favour of “National Law University, Delhi” payable at New Delhi.
Scholarships/fee waivers available?
Yes. Fee waiver of 30 percent will be provided to a total of five (05) NLU students every year in both the Courses. The decision regarding the selection of students for the fee waiver will be taken on the basis of merit cum means.
For both the courses, a total of five scholarships (30 per cent waiver in the course fee) shall be available every year (for Indian participants). The selection of participants for the scholarship shall be based on the evaluation of applicants’ credentials .
At the time of admission, the candidates are required to pay the requisite fee.
The fee-waiver & scholarship to both NLU students and Indian participants will be given by reimbursing 30 per cent of the requisite fee after selection. A notification will be sent to the concerned participants in this regard in the due course to apply for fee waiver/Scholarship.
Where will the classes be held?
Classes will be held over weekends at centrally located places in Delhi and other cities subject to number of candidates.

Eligibility: To be admitted to the candidature for a Doctoral degree an applicant should have:
(i) obtained a Master's Degree in law of any recognised university securing not less than 55% marks or its equivalent or
(ii) obtained a degree in law and Masters Degree with MPhil in social sciences or humanities of any recognised university with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent, provided that candidates with qualifications in social sciences and humanities may be admitted to the programme if the research they wish to pursue interface with the discipline of law with a special focus on Public Policy or Law or
(iii) Degree in law and PhD in any discipline or
(iv) Judge of any State High Court in India with three years experience or Judge of Supreme Court of India.
Admission:
Admission to BA, LL.B (Hons.), LL.M and PhD Programmes will be through AILET to be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Patna on May 6, 2012(Sunday).
