Four-year Bachelor of Fisheries Science (Nautical Science) course for 2009

The Central Institute of Fisheries, Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET) a Government of India Institution, located at Cochin, Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the four-year Bachelor of Fisheries Science (Nautical Science) course for 2009, commencing on 23rd July, 2009.

The course extending over 8 semesters is concerned with fish capturing techniques, nautical science and operation of fishing vessels. Applicant should have passed 10+2 with 50% marks in Mathematics, 50% marks in aggregate in other science subjects and 50% marks in English either at 10th or +2. Maximum age limit is 20 years as on 1st October 2009.

In case the candidate wishes to take up career on sea/vessel, he/she should pass the prescribed eye test conducted by Mercantile Marine Department, before admission.

Admission will be based on the performance in a Common Entrance Test (CET), Academic performance, and Interview with a weightage of 100, 90 and 10 marks respectively.

The CET will be conducted at CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016, from 10 am on 7th June, 2009. It will be an objective type test covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.

Interview will be held on 20th July, 2009. 20 seats will be filled through CET. Reservation for SC/ST will be 15% and 7.5% respectively. One seat each is available under NRI and Foreign National Category. Details can be had from the Prospectus.
