Admission Notice for the VI Batch commencing from January 2010

DISTANCE COURSES ON OFFER

Courses:
The following Courses are offered under distance mode for the VI Batch commencing from January 2010.

(i) International Post Graduate Diploma in Life Insurance(IPGDLI)
(ii) International Post Graduate Diploma in General Insurance(IPGDGI)
(iii) International Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management (IPGDRM)

Duration : of each of the above three Courses is one year – Two Semesters, each of about 16 weeks duration.

Eligibility:
(i) Employed professionals with minimum Graduate Degree in any discipline (including Engg and Management) from a  recognised university/Institute with at least 50% marks. Candidates with professional qualifications like CA, ICWAI, CS are also eligible.
(ii)  Self employed  Graduates of any discipline (with minimum 50% marks) and  aged 30 years and above may also be considered for admission
(iii)   Employment is an essential criteria for admission. Employed   candidates will be considered only if their applications are   forwarded by their Employers.

Admission to Distance Learning courses is offered twice in a year- in January and July every year. Admission Notice for the VI Batch commencing from January 2010 has already notified.

Last date for receipt of completed applications is November 30,2009

 

Note:
A. Those having Post-graduate qualification or additional degree with more than 50% will be considered even if such candidates secure less than 50% in the first degree.

B. In case of Sponsored candidates and those working in financial sector (like Banks, Mutual funds, insurance companies) the restriction of acquiring 50% in Graduation is waived.

Mode of selection:
Admission to these Courses will be based on academic qualification and experience computed as per the weightage
 
Weightage for Experience: 4 marks for every completed year, subject to a maximum of 20 marks

For the purpose of computing weightage, Bachelor degree in Engineering will be treated at par with Post graduates

Study Material:Every student admitted to a Course is provided with study material for each Subject. In addition a list of reference books may also be suggested.

Contact Classess:Students will be provided with opportunity of contact classes on the dates notified  for the subjects offered during that Semester. For this purpose students have to register their names in advance  Outstation students have to make their own arrangements for their stay and travel.

Maximum Period for Completion of Course:A student who is admitted to a distance course should pass all subjects and obtain Diploma  within a period of three years, counting from the year of his enrolment, after which his admission gets automatically lapsed.

Jurisdiction: All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Hyderabad.


CII ACCREDITATION
Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London has granted accreditation to the distance learning programmes of IIRM. A  student qualifying in International Post Graduate Diploma in Life, General or Risk Management from IIRM is eligible for exemption in 7 out of 10 subjects required  to acquire ACII qualification of the CII. The Accreditation letter is placed as Annexure (Visit institute's website for more details) on their website.

The CII is a premier professional organization in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry. A success in ACII qualification is globally recognized as a sign of competence, commitment and Professionalism. This feature gives an international status to the programmes of IIRM.


ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Step1
:Candidates desirous of getting admitted to the distance Courses of the Institute are advised to go through the information provided on the website and satisfy themselves before applying for admission. They  have to download the Application from the Institute's website: www.iirmworld.org.in / Distance learning. No separate application will be provided by the office.
Step 2:Completed Applications are to be duly  forwarded by their Employers (this is not required for self employed category of candidates) to the Institute  by courier / registered post with copies of all certificates and Demand Draft for Rs. 200/- on or before November 30, 2009(Monday). Applications received after the due date and incomplete / defective applications without registration fees will not be entertained.
Step3:Candidates selected based on their educational qualifications and experience will be informed normally within 10 days after the closing date.
Step 4: Selected candidates have to pay the course fee either in lumpsum or in two  installments as opted by them in form of Demand draft drawn on IIRM on any scheduled bank payable at Hyderabad . Each admitted candidate will be informed of his enrolment number which should be quoted in all correspondence.

FOREIGN STUDENTS
Candidates applying from outside India should observe  the following :

The following amounts are to be paid  by students residing outside India (foreign / NRI students)  in form of Demand Drafts drawn on IIRM on any bank in India

(i) Regn Fee of US $20 along with their filled-in Application Forms

(ii) Course Fee of US $ 6500 (Plus Service Tax at existing rates) to be paid in lumpsum within the stipulated date. There is a 50 % reduction in course fee for those who belong to SAARC cuntries(that is US $ 3250).

(iii) There is no  Fee for appearing semester-end Exams for the first time. However those who appear for Re-sit Exams have to pay US $ 100 per subject

Study and other reading material will be sent to the bonafide students by air-mail to the address provided by them in their Application Forms. No contact classes would be conducted for them. They can however seek the advice of the Academic Coordinators on Email  to clear their doubts.

Students have to submit Assignments sent to them by the prescribed dates. Only those who submit them to the Institute  in time will be permitted to appear Semester–end Exams

Efforts would be made to conduct Exams of foregin students  in their countries  at a place near to their places of stay with the help of Embassies situated there and the entire expenditure incurred in this connection has to be borne by the students concerned. However, if it is not found feasible to conduct Exams near to their places, students should be prepared to  appear Exams at a place assigned to them.

A student who is admitted to a distance course should pass all subjects and obtain Diploma  within a period of three years, counting from the year of his enrolment, after which period the admission gets automatically lapsed.

IIRM has no appointed agents overseas for this Programme or any other Programme.

FEE PARTICULARS
Course Fee: Course fee for each Course is Rs. 1,10,000 which should be paid in lumpsum before the scheduled date by means of a DD on any scheduled bank in Hyderabad.
Service Tax liability, if any, will be on the candidates account at existing rates.

Students may opt to pay the Course Fee in two installments – Rs. 65,000 at the time of admission and Rs. 55,000, before  the commencement of Second Semester.

Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

For sponsored candidates: A rebate of 25% on the course fee will be allowed in case of companies sponsoring not less than 5 candidates at a time for admission.

Exam Fee: There is no Exam Fee  for appearing semester-end Exams for the first time. However, Rs.1000 for each paper has to be paid for appearing Re-sit Exams conducted for those who failed to secure 55% in any subject

Fee for contact Classes: No fee need be paid for attending to contact classes at the institute. However Students who desire to avail of the benefit of contact classes have to register their names  for each semester. Students have to make their own arrangement for their stay and travel.

Identity Card / Hall Ticket: Each candidate will be issued an Identity card with his photograph / signature / Roll number which must be produced at the time of visiting the Institute for contact classes and also for Exam purposes. Date and Venue of Exams will be notified well in advance.
