SLIET Admissions 2012


Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET), Longowal, Punjab has invited applications for admission to various Certificate, Diploma, Degree, PG and PhD programmes of the academic session 2012-13. The National Level SLIET Entrance Test (SET)-2012 will be held nation-wide on 2nd & 3rd June, 2012.

1. CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES:
* Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (CAC)
* Auto and Farm Machinery (CAF)

Entry Qualification: The minimum qualification for admission to the Certificate programme is Matric pass (Pass in English, Mathematics and Science is compulsory) from a State Secondary Education Board / CBSE / ICSE / National Open School or an equivalent examination conducted by an Institution or School recognized by and affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.

2. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:
* Chemical Technology (DCT)
* Food Technology (DFP)
* Computer Science &Applications (DCA)
* Computer Science & Engineering (DCE)
* Electronics & Communication Engineering (DEC)
* Instrumentation & Process Control (DIN)
* Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Industrial & Production Engineering) (DIP)
* Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Maintenance & Plant Engineering) (DMP)
* Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Welding Technology) (DWT)
* Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in FoundryTechnology) (DFT)

Entry Qualification: The minimum qualification for admission to the Diploma programmes is 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognized board/university or a Certificate pass from SLIET in any trade. Minimum Marks in the qualifying examination is 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories). The candidates who have studied Biotechnology or Computer Science or Biology instead of Chemistry at 10+2 level are also eligible.

3. DEGREE PROGRAMME:

Entry Qualification: All candidates who have passed Diploma course in any discipline from SLIET or from any other polytechnic affiliated with any State Board of Technical Education and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), securing 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) are eligible to compete for admission to any of the Degree programmes.

4. MBA PROGRAMME:
* Marketing Management
* Human Resource Development
* Material Management
* Labour Welfare and Industrial Relations

Entry Qualification : A recognized Bachelors (three years) / Post-Graduate degree in any discipline or a pass in the final examination conducted by ICAI / ICWI / ICSI or AMIE. Minimum marks in the qualifying examination is 55% (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories). Candidates appearing for final year Degree examination are also eligible to apply and can take the test provisionally.

5. MTech PROGRAMME:
* MTech in Manufacturing Systems Engineering
* MTech in Mechanical Engg. (Specialization in Welding and Fabrication)
* MTech in Food Engineering & Technology
* MTech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering
* MTech in Polymer
* MTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering

Entry Qualification:
Admission to Master of Technology (MTech) course will be open to candidates who obtain at least 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved catagories) in the aggregate in qualifying examination and :

1) holds a BTech / BE degree of recognized University / Institute in the appropriate branch OR
2) has passed Section 'B' of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Grade IETE and has three years of professional experience in reputed organization OR

3) Candidates are also eligible for admission in various MTech courses as under :
i) MTech (Manufacturing Systems Engineering) : Candidate should have BE / BTech degree in Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
ii) MTech Mechanical Engg. (Welding and Fabrication) : Candidate should have BE / BTech degree in Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering or equivalent
iii) MTech (Food Engineering & Technology) : Candidate should have BE / BTech / MSc degree in Food Technology / Food Engineering / Agricultural & Food Engineering or equivalent.
iv) MTech (Instrumentation & Control Engineering) : Candidate should have BE / BTech degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Control or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering or equivalent.
v) MTech (Polymer): Candidate should have B.E. / B.Tech. in Polymer Technology or Chemical Engineering or MSc (Chemistry) or equivalent.
vi) MTech (Electronics & Communication Engineering): Candidate should have BE / BTech degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent

6. MSc PROGRAMMES:
* MSc in Physics (PG-PHY)
* MSc in Chemistry (PG-CHY)
* MSc in Mathematics (PG-MATH)

Entry Qualification:
The minimum qualification for admission to Master of Science (MSc) Programmes will be open to a candidate who obtains at least 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in the aggregate in qualifying examination as mentioned hereunder:
(i) MSc (Physics) : Recognized Bachelor’s Degree with Physics as main subject.
(ii) MSc (Chemistry) : Recognized Bachelor’s Degree with Chemistry as main subject.
(iii) MSc (Mathematics) : Recognized Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.Sc.) with Mathematics

APPLICATION FORMS:
(i) ONLINE APPLICATION:

Candidate shall log on to: www.sliet.ac.in / www.sliet.net.in and click proceed from SET-2012. After successfully submitting Online Registration Form for SET-2012, note down Form Number for future reference. The processing of Application Form will begin only after the successful payment of Application Fee. Select from a mode of fee payment and make the payment. Once the payment is confirmed, the online Registration Page for PRINT shall be available to the candidate. The Registration Page duly filled in should be sent to THE CHAIRMAN SET-2012, SANT LONGOWAL INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY (SLIET), LONGOWAL – 148106 (DISTT. SANGRUR), PUNJAB in the envelope by Registered/Speed Post only, so as to reach by 30th April, 2012.

(ii) OFFLINE OMR APPLICATION:
Offline forms are available at Central Bank of India, Longowal branch and designated HDFC bank branches through out of the country at payment of Rs. 1100/- (Rs. 600/- for SC/ST"

There is no Examination Fee for the Candidates applying under Persons-with-Disability (PWD) Category in Certificate and Diploma Programmes.
Completed Application Form with the envelope superscribed "APPLICATION FORM SET-2012" can also be submitted personally in the Office of the Chairman, SET-2012 on any working day during working hours (including Saturdays) on or before 30th April, 2012 (Monday).
