TRAINING PROGRAMME ON SAFETY MANAGEMENT

From the days of Industrialization, safety in operation of an industry is the prime consideration in location, design, layout, construction, and maintenance. The constant striving for more production, more powerful and efficient machines, more
automation involved, and more complex work schedule has resulted in providing not only better customer satisfaction but also for increased safety while in production.

Traditionally, both academicians and practitioners have intended to address risk by focusing on technical aspects and looking for the immediate causes of accidents or fire incidents after they have taken place. In this context, training program on several aspects of safety management is highly important, useful, and necessary for all levels of an organization.

Keeping this in mind a joint venture between JU and CII has been planned for personnel from various sectors, such as construction, production, electrical, and office and home. It is also mentioned that faculty members of JU and members of CII will share their vast teaching and research experience, and practical know-how.


OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
The major objectives of the course are as follows:
1. To improve the general awareness at all levels of organization,
2. Exposing participants to the fundamentals of safety management,
3. Providing exposure to the practical problems and their solutions with the help of live projects and case studies in the context of safety systems, and
4. Enhancing the capability of knowledge-base and confidence of personnel so that they can identify the problems, control it, and improve the working environment.

CONTENT OF THE COURSE
The course will focus on the following topics:
1. Present condition of safety management and its acts and audits,
2. Theory and principles of safety management,
3. Tools and techniques of safety management,
4. Case studies from different sectors, like transport, process industry, home and office, mining site etc.

TRAINING METHODS
The method of training contains lecture classes, tutorial classes, and discussion of live problems and case studies. Academicians and practitioners with proven theoretical and practical knowledge and experience will deliver the lectures. They will also take up live problems from different situations and industries.

ELIGIBILITY
Executive and officials from different organizations are eligible to attend this course.

APPLICATION AND FEE
Interested participants may apply to one of the coordinaters with duly filled up registration form. The total number of seats is restricted to 35. The selection will be made on “first-cum-first-serve” basis.

The fee of the course is Rs 10000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for small-scale and Rs 15000/- (Rupees fifteen thousand only) for medium- and large-scale organizations and the payment will be made by demand draft in favour of “The Registrar, Jadavpur University” payable at Kolkata. Course fee will include course material and participation fee.

ACCOMMODATION
The course will be conducted at Jadavpur University and no boarding and lodging facility will be provided to the participants.
