Admission Notice for M.A. (Day) and M.Com. (Day / Evening) courses for the session 2012-2014.





Applications are invited for admission to the above mentioned courses. The Subjects are :- 
Bengali, English, Linguistics, Pali, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic & Persian, French, Tamil Studies, History, Ancient Indian History & Culture, Islamic History & Culture, Archaeology, Museology, Philosophy, Pol. Science, Sociology, Economics , South & South-East Asian Studies & Commerce. 

N.B:- Number of seats and seats reserved for SC/ST  and PH of each subject have been shown in brochure vide Section no.3. 

1.  Eligibility  : Vide Section no.2. of the Brochure   

2.   Forms : Prescribed application forms along with an information brochure (Price Rs. 15/- and Rs. 35/= per copy  respectively Rs. 50/= in total)for General category and (Price Rs.10/- and Rs.15/- per copy respectively Rs.25/- in total) for SC/ST/PH category  are available from the University Sales Counter (College Street Campus) from 10.30 A.M. to 3.00 P.M. on all working  days up to 31.07.2012

3.   Submission of forms (From 11.00 A.M. To 3.00 P.M. on all working days)
Application forms should be submitted either to the office of Secretary UCAC in College Street Campus or Alipore Campus whichever is applicable. (Details shown in the brochure vide Section no. 1 & 6.)  

4.   Reservation : Only for SC/ST/PH candidates as per University Rules & W.B. Govt’s rules. 

5.  Attested copy :
1) B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com Part 1 , Part II & Part III mark sheets.(Hons.) 
2) SC/ST certificate. (SC/ST certificate issued by the competent Govt. Officers only). 
    SC/ST of other States will not be considered as per the WB Govt. order. 

Original copy :
3) Handicapped certificate from the competent authority. 

4) Sports certificate for sports Quota Only ( Details shown in the brochure vide Section no. 8) 

6.  For M.Com Course  :   Preference for Day or Evening should be stated clearly in the application form.  

7.  For Allied Subjects  :    Order of preference to be mentioned in the application form (Options once exercised can not be changed)  

8.  Admission schedule (2012 - 2014 session)
a. Application forms will be available on and from : 16.07.2012
b. Submission of application form on and from : 16.07.2012  
c. Last date for submission of applications :  31.07.2012
d. Date of publication of the Merit list /Selection list (for all subjects) : 17.08.2012
e. Date of admission (other than allied subjects) on and from : 21.8.2012 to 28.08.2012
f. Date of admission (other than allied subjects) in case of vacancy (from the candidates’ waiting list) :  08.09.2012
g. Date of commencement of the first year M.A/M.Com.Classes : will be intimated later.

9.   Dates of Counselling for allied subjects (from 11 A.M. onwards).

• Spot admission on the date of counseling for all allied subjects. 

N. B.          
 i)   Forms sent by post will not be accepted.  
ii) Selection will be made as per university admission rules. 

iii) The list of eligible candidates for admission be made on the basis of marks and marks obtained by the  students of  affiliated colleges and the  autonomous colleges under this University will be considered at par with each other. 

iv) For Museology / Economics / Pali / Linguistics/Tamil Studies/South and South-East Asian Studies/Archaeology,  separate application forms should be submitted. 

v)  Admission will be made strictly on basis of merit, taking preference into consideration. 

vi)  Selection lists will be displayed on the notice board. No personal communication will be made with the selected candidates. 

vii) Eligibility for admission of other than Calcutta University candidates; Honours Graduates from other recognized Universities. 

viii) CU Final year P.N.C. candidate may also apply as appeared candidate to be included in the Merit List after production of Pass Mark sheet immediately after publication of result satisfying the requisite eligibility criteria. 

ix) Percentage of cut off marks for entrance test and any other criteria will be notified after receiving the application form. 

x) The adoption of New Policy for reservation of seats earmarked for C.U. & Non C.U. candidates may necessitate the formulation of a new mechanism for implementation of C.U./Non-C.U. reservation Policy. This new methodology, when formulated, will be notified. 

• The Application Form and the Information Brochure can be downloaded from the official website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in

• Downloaded application forms completed in all respects along with the proof of payment of Rs. 50/= (Rupees fifty only) for General & Rs.25/- for SC/ST/PH by C.U. Challan will be received in the office of the concerned department. If required, additional forms may be downloaded. However, Rs.50/= (Rupees Fifty only) is to be paid by C.U. Challan for submission of each additional form.
