The Syllabus for Ph.D. Entrance Examination will be the same as prescribed for Master’s Degree courses of Ravenshaw University in the relevant subject.

All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying online for admission into Ph.D programmes.
1. Eligibility:
Postgraduate Degree with at least 55% (50 % in case of SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate or CGPA of 5.5. (5 in case of SC/ST candidates)
2. Ph.D. Subjects
The University offers Ph.D Programme in the following subjects.
Applied Geography, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Education, English, Geology, Hindi, History, Management, Mathematics, Odia, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Zoology.
3. Relaxation/Exemption Categories:
The following candidates are exempted from the written entrance test • Candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/SLET/ DBT/ICMR/ICAR/INSPIRE fellowships and teacher fellowship holders
• Candidates having an M.Phil. Degree with 55 % or its equivalent in CGPA
• Candidates having five years of teaching (UG and above) or professional experience in their respective fields (For exemption documentary evidence is to be attached)
4. Reservation Policy
As per the University Reservation Policy. 5. Application Procedure (i) Candidates seeking admission into different Ph.D. programmes of the University shall make online application available in the Ravenshaw University Website ‘www.ravenshawuniversity.ac.in’ at the link ‘ADMISSION-2012’ on or before August 29, 2012.
All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying for admission into Ph.D. programmes.
• Application Fee – Rs. 1500/-(Rupees One thousand and five hundred)
The applicants are required to pay the Application Fee before submitting application online and to quote the particulars of payment of Application Fee therein.
Applicants are required to remit the Application Fee by Demand Draft for Rs.1500/- drawn in favour of ‘Ravenshaw University’ payable at Cuttack.
Applicants are required to make the following entries on the reverseof the Demand Draft. They are also required to keep a photocopy of the Demand Draft with them for future reference.

The applicants are required to send the following documents by Speed Post/ Registered Post to The Registrar, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, 753003 after online application so as to reach the University Office on or before September 01, 2012. They can also submit the documents by hand at Ravenshaw University Counter on or before September 01, 2012.
1. Print out of the application form (printed application form after online submission) with a recent passport size colour photograph affixed on it.
2. Demand Draft for Rs. 1500/-.
3. Photocopy of Certificate of the HSC or equivalent examination. 4. Photocopies of Provisional Certificate and Mark sheet of the PG
examination.
5. Photocopy of the evidence in support of claiming exemption from the written Entrance Examination.
6. Photocopy of the certificate in support of claiming reservation from the competent authority.
All documents will be signed by the candidate as proof of self attestation.
Submission of incorrect information may lead to cancellation of admission, and make the candidate liable for criminal proceedings.
(ii) Admit Card
• After submission of application online, candidates are required to take printout of the Application Form and Admit Card.
• The Admit Card shall have two parts: one for the Candidate (Candidate’s Copy), and the other for the Office (Office Copy).
Applicants shall affix one recent passport size colour
photograph on space indicated on the Office copy of the Admit Card.
• Candidates are required to bring both the copies of the Admit Card (Candidate’s Copy as well as Office Copy).
• No other intimation shall be issued for reporting at the examination centre.
The candidates are requested to report at the venue (Ravenshaw University Campus) at least one hour before the commencement of examination.
6. Entrance test and Interview
The final selection for the Ph.D. Course 2012 will be held on the basis of combined performance in the written entrance test and interview on 70%-30% weightage basis. However, those candidates who are exempted from written entrance test, their selection shall be made on the basis of performance in the interview only.
i) Scheme of Written Entrance Test The medium of examination shall be ENGLISH only, except in
the test for language other than English. The question paper will be of 100 marks and of two hours’ duration. The pattern of questions may be subjective or objective or both. There will be no negative marking.
To qualify for Ph.D. VIVA-VOCE TEST, the candidate must obtain at least 40% marks in written entrance examination.
ii) Scheme of VIVA-VOCE Test
In the interview, the candidates are expected to discuss about his/her synopsis and his/her area of research.
