ADMISSION TO PART-TIME DIPLOMA COURSE IN MINING ENGINEERING
AT HARASHANKAR BHATTACHARYA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND MINING, RANIGANJ
FOR THE BONA FIDE EMPLOYED PERSONS (SESSION 2012-13)


Applications are invited in prescribed Application  Form from the employed persons who are citizens of India and domiciled in West Bengal for at least last two years from the date of application for admission to 1st year of the 4-Years Part-time Diploma Course in Mining Engineering at Harashankar Bhattacharya Institute of Technology & Mining, Raniganj.  

The prescribed Application Form is furnished hereinafter. Willing candidates are advised to take print-out of the Application Form on both sides of an A4 size paper.

The application form, duly filled-in, should be submitted  in person or through messenger at  Harashankar Bhattacharya Institute of Technology & Mining, Raniganj  on any working day [except Sundays and gazetted holidays] between 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. within 10th September, 2012 along with a bank draft of Rs.450/- (Rupees four hundred and fifty) only drawn in favour of “West Bengal State Council of Technical Education” payable at Kolkata. For Saturdays, submission time is from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. 

No document is to be enclosed with the application form. However, original testimonials will have to be produced by the merit listed candidates at the time of counselling and also at the time of admission. 

An applicant should ensure that he satisfies the requirements relating to Age Limit, Eligibility Criteria, etc. before submission of the filled-in application form. The Application Form will be automatically rejected if the candidate does not fulfill these requirements. Application Form will have to be filled-up properly and completely in all respect. No request for subsequent change of information, submitted by the candidate in the filled-in application form, will be entertained under any circumstances. The Council shall not be liable for refusal of admission to a candidate by the institute for wrong submission of information by the candidate even after being merit listed.

1.  Mode of Selection
 There will be a Common Entrance Test to be held on Sunday, 30.09.2012 from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. 
Questions will be of MCQ type consisting of Mathematics (50 marks), Physics (15 marks), Chemistry (15 marks) and General Knowledge (20 marks). Time allowed 2 hours. Candidates appearing at the Common Entrance Test are required to collect Admit Cards from 24.09.2012 to 26.09.2012 between 11.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. from Harashankar Bhattacharya Institute of Technology & Mining, Raniganj. 

2.  Eligibility criteria for admission
i) The sponsored candidates from M/s. Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) should have passed Madhyamik / Secondary / equivalent examination with Physical Science and Mathematics and must possess at least 3 years’ working experience in Mining related jobs. Application from the following categories of employees working in any mine of ECL would not be considered:– 
(a) Overman; (b) Surface Worker; (c) Surveyors or persons working in Survey Department; and  (d) Piece rated worker. 

ii) The sponsored candidates from other Mining organisations except M/s. Eastern Coalfield Limited should possess:– 
a) Pass in Madhyamik / Secondary / equivalent examinations holding National Trade Certificate (NTC) with one year working experience in the related field; 
OR
b) Pass in Higher Secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must posses one year working experience in the related Mining field; 
OR
c) Pass in Madhyamik / Secondary / equivalent examination with Physical Science and Mathematics and three years’ working experience in the related Mining field. 

3.  Age: Not below 19 years as on 01.01.2012. There is no upper age limit. 

4.  Reservation: Reservation of seats for SC, ST, PC and other category of candidates will be as per existing Government norms.
