for Boost To University Interdisciplinary Life Science Departments For Education And Research (BUILDER)' Programme

LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION - WITH IN ONE MONTH FROM THE DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THIS ADVERTISEMENT

Department of Biotechnology launched 'Boost to University Interdisciplinary Life science Departments for Education and Research programme (DBT-BUILDER) for upgrading and developing the research and advanced technical capabilities, adequate competency and skill development of students and faculties in frontier areas of life sciences/biotechnology. The programme also supports the strengthening of the existing Indian university departmental infrastructure and capabilities of the life science/biotechnology research and education in central and state universities in order to transform them into truly globally competitive.

• OBJECTIVES '
DBT-BUILDER programme was created to fulfill the following objectives:
1. Establishing and strengthening the Post-Graduate educational and research related infrastructure in Indian universities and making them globally competitive
2. Enhancing the interdisciplinary research opportunities among various Indian university departments/universities
3. Developing and strengthening the scientific and technical skills of students in life science/biotechnology sector in Indian Universities
4. Motivating the faculties to take innovative solutions for challenges in life science/biotechnology at university level
5. Promotion of academic-industrial collaborations
6. Regrouping research activities in emerging areas along the biotechnology innovation chain (from discovery to market)

NATURE OF SUPPORT
1. Infrastructure development and upgradation
2. Appointment of new faculty
3. Fellowships for Post-Graduate students
4. Faculty/student training programmes

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The main criteria for support include current status of the university in education and research including the faculty strength; research infrastructure available; areas of expertise; teaching activities; research projects implemented in emerging areas; linkages with industry; publications (their impact factor and citation index)- no of patents filed and granted; technologies developed / transferred; interdisciplinary project implemented and readiness for administrative reforms. IMPORTANT NOTE
1. ONLY the Central and State universities registered under Central Universities Act 2009 and section 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act, 1956 (http://www.ugc.ac.in) are eligible to apply
2. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary nature of the proposal prepared in consultation with life science/biotechnology department of the university and other relevant division/departments
3. Universities, who have already received the grant under DBT-BUILDER Program are NOT eligible to apply

APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Two hard copies and soft copy of the proposal duly signed by the collaborating Pis and respective executive authority of a university/institution in prescribed format (http://dbtindia.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?id_pk=60)  may be sent to Dr. Rajneesh K.
