INFORMATION
TO CANDIDATES
Admissions will be made to
Full-Time / Part-Time Research Programmes offered by the JNAFA University,
Hyderabad and in its Constituent colleges / Units in the following faculties.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS:
Internal or External
candidates who fulfill the following requirements will be eligible for
admission into the doctoral research programme:
I EDUCATIONAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
In all faculties,
candidates must have passed the Post Graduate Degree Examination of the
Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture & Fine Arts University Hyderabad, or an
examination recognized as equivalent by UGCin the discipline concerned.
Aminimumof 55%marks in aggregate and for SC and ST category, 50% marks in the
concerned subject is required.
Candidates who do not have
Post Graduate degree in the concerned discipline should submit equivalence
certificate from the concerned organization i.e. Association of Indian
Universities/All India Council for Technical Education/UGC/State Board of
Technical Education.
II. EMPLOYMENT:
Candidates who have been
working for at least one year in well equipped Educational / Scientific /
R&D / Industrial / Government/private Organizations and engaged in
Scientific / Technological / Engineering / Managerial activities, as the case
may be, possessing the minimum academic qualifications, shall be deemed as
external, part-time candidates and shall continue to work in their organizations.
Regular faculty members of
JNAFAU, desirous of doing Ph.D. while continuing to work and possessing the
minimum academic qualifications shall be deemed as internal, part-time
candidates. The full time research scholars are required to work Full-Time in
any of the Constituent Units of JNAFAU for the stipulated duration on the
research topic and they shall not be permitted to undertake any employment
during that period. The category of students working full-time on research
projects funded by Government agencies will be considered as partially funded
full time students. Candidates may also do the research on full time and
regular basis without any scholarship/financial assistance.
III MODE OF SELECTION:
Admissions for the
Research Programs (Ph.D.) shall be made on the basis of written test and
interview, as per UGC stipulations.
Ph.D
ENTRANCE TEST:
Candidates who have
qualified the UGC-CSIR/NET/GATE examination, or awarded with a Research Fellowship
by UGC/CSIR/Government Organization are exempted from entrance test for Ph.D. admission.
However, they should appear for the interview. Eligible candidates must first
appear for a three hour Entrance Test to be conducted by the University at
HYDERABAD at their own cost. The date and time of the Entrance Test will be
intimated to the eligible candidates and details will be displayed in JNAFAU,
Hyderabad website www.jnafau.ac.in Candidates must collect their Hall Tickets, from JNAFA University.
Hyderabad one day prior to the examination and no further correspondence will
be made in this matter.
PLAN OF
RESEARCH WORK AND INTERVIEW:
Candidates who have
qualified in Entrance Test must appear before the admission committee for an interview
at JNAFAU, Hyderabad at their own cost. The date and time of interview will be
intimated to the candidate as well as displayed in JNA&FAU website www.jnafau.ac.in
At the time of interview,
candidates are expected to discuss their research topic. Candidates must submit
a well conceived plan of research work, with evidence of having initiated a
preliminary study (at least 500 words) in their research area.
A pre-determined number of
students will be admitted based on availability of slots of the eligible supervisors.
The allotment of Supervisor/Co-supervisor is done by the University Admission
Committee.
Candidates request for a
supervisor may or may not be approved. State Government reservation policies shall
be adopted during admissions.
The candidate will submit
a declaration that he/she has not registered for any other course leading to the
award of a degree. The University reserves the right to cancel admission /
registration of any candidate to the research programme at any stage if it is
noticed that the data furnished / certificates enclosed are incorrect. In case
of any disputes concerning admissions to the courses of JNAFA University,
Hyderabad the jurisdiction shall remain with the Courts in Hyderabad only.
PLACE OF
RESEARCH WORK AND FACILITIES AVAILABLE:
Candidate seeking
admission in part-time mode, internal as well as external part-time
scholarswill have to declare and register as such and produce along with the
application aCertificate of No Objection (as per pro forma attached) from the
Head of the Organization permitting the candidate to pursue the course and take
up the research work as well as use the available facilities at the place of
work along with permission for the members of the Doctoral Research Committee
appointed by the university to periodically monitor and assess the work of the
candidate.

V FEE
PARTICULARS:
On selection for admission, candidates
shall be required to pay the prescribed fee as per the following criteria. The
fee has to be paid on stipulated dates regularly every year, till the successful
completion of the programme and submission of thesis or cancellation of the
admission as the case may be. If the fee is not paid by the stipulated due date, a late
fee will be levied.
Full-Time Research Scholars:
Category 1: CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/AP-NL/DBT/DST/GATEDirect
JRF& SRFand those JRF/SRF in projects who have qualified CSIR/UGC-NET: Fees
Rs.5000/Year
Category 2: Scholars working as
Project Fellows with GOI/other agency funded research projects with two/ three
years duration (appointment ratified by University) ; Fees Rs. 10,000/Year
Category 3: Registered as Full
Time Research Scholars but with no financial assistance; Fees Rs. 10,000/Year
Category 4: JNAFAU internal
faculty Registered for Ph.D.; Fees Rs. 5000/Year
Part-Time Research Scholars:
Category 1: JNAFAU Lecturers
Registered for Ph.D;Fees Rs. 10, 000/Year
Category 2: Other part-time
scholars, Fees Rs. 25,000/Year
Note: Mode of Fee
Payment for Full-Time aswell asPart-Time candidates is year wise. The Fee Structure
may be modified by the University from time to time.
NON-PAYMENT OF THE PRESCRIBED FEE WITHIN
NOTIFIED TIME MAY LEAD TO THE CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION WITHOUT ANY PRIOR
NOTICE TO THE CANDIDATE.
VI. DURATION OF THE RESEARCH
PROGRAMME:
1. Research Scholars registered for Ph.D.
(Full-Time/Part-Time) can submit the thesis after completion of aminimum of
three years/ four years from the date of admission, subject to passing of the
pre-Ph.D. Examination in two subjects specified by the University.
2. For the candidate to submit the
thesis for Ph.D., he/she should have published at least one research
paper published/have accepted for publication, in a peerreviewed refereed
national or international journal. Two papers must also be presented/accepted
for presentation, at national/ international conferences, which has to be
enclosed with the thesis, with necessary documentation of the same. Instead of
article publication in journal, the candidate can also submit the thesis, if
he/she has at least one recognized patent rights, whose details are to be
enclosed.
3. Each candidate shall compulsorily
present a seminar at least one month before submission of thesis in the
concerned Department on the research work, carried out by him/her.
VII. GENERAL
Application complete in all respects (in
A4 size) accompanied with a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour
of THEREGISTRAR, JNAFAUHYDERABAD payable at HYDERABAD on any
nationalized bank towards application Registration fee and three self addressed
stamped envelopes of size 22 x 10 cms. (affixing Rs.5.00 stamps), is to be
submitted to Office of Director I/c Admissions, JNAFA University, Hyderabad
500 028 either in person or by Registered post /Courier on or before 29. 01. 2013 by 5.00 pm. The
University is not responsible for any delay or loss of application in transit.
Incomplete applications or applications received after the last date will not
be considered and fee paid will not be refunded
