NOTIFICATION
Applications
on prescribed forms are invited for admission to M.Phil Programme in Statistics
for the session 2013.
It is a two semester full
time course including dissertation. The candidates who have passed M.A/M.Sc
in Statistics with minimum of 55% marks(Open Category) and 50% marks
(SC/ST Category) are eligible for admission. Out of total seats of M.Phil,
8% are reserved for SC/ST candidates.
Applications complete in all
respects and duly supported by requisite documents should reach the office of
the undersigned on
or before 11th February, 2013 .The
admission will be based on academic merit (50%) and entrance test (50%).
The entrance test will be
conducted on 23th February, 2013 at 10.00 A.M in the Department of Statistics.
The test will consist of
> Research Aptitude Component -
25 marks (Descriptive in nature). Out of 5 questions two questions are to be
attempted. Each question would carry 12 Yt marks.
> Academic Component - 75 marks
(50 Objective Multiple Choice-154 marks each).
All students appearing in the
Entrance Test are directed to submit an affidavit mentioning that they will not
seek any employment during the first year of M.Phil course. They will also
submit in the affidavit that they will have no objection if their names are
stricken off from the rolls of Department of Statistics without any prior
notice to them if they are not able to complete their course work including
examinations of Compulsory Papers and Submission of M.Phil Dissertation in the
stipulated time of one year of M.Phil Programme.
The syllabus for the entrance
test can be had from the office of the Department of Statistics, University of
Jammu on all working days during office timing.
Application forms are
available from the office of the Assistant Registrar (Forms and Stationery),
University of Jammu, Jammu on cash payment.
