Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar has invited applications for the PhD programme in the following schools for the admission year 2014-15.

1) School of Basic Sciences:

2) School of Earth, Ocean & Climate Sciences:

3) School of Electrical Sciences: 
Visual surveillance, Multi Object Tracking, Fiver Wireless(FiWi) networks, Advance modulation format, Network security, Software security testing, Cloud computing and analytics, Antenna design, Radar systems, microwave communication, Sensor networks, adaptive signal processing, soft and evolutionary computing intelligent instrumentation.

4) School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management:
Economics, English, Psychology

5) School of Infrastructure (Civil Engineering): 
Structural Engineering (including Concrete Technology), Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering

6) School of Mechanical Sciences:
Computational Fluid Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Turbulence, Heat Transfer, Pulse Heat Transfer in Manufacturing Analysis, Composite Materials, Sandwich Structures, Fracture Mechanics, Composite Materials, Smart Composite Structures, Vibration, Fracture Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Control, Industrial Noise Control, Condition Monitoring.

7) School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering:
Surface engineered alloys, Batteries, Discrete element modeling , Electrochemical and Photo-electrochemical synthesis of gases, Extraction and Recycling of Metals, Fuels Cells, Grain boundary effects in steels and other metals, Grain refinement of cast Aluminum and Magnesium alloys, Inert Anodes for Metal production, In-situ Metal Matrix Composites, Microstructural modeling of thermo-mechanical processes, Modeling & simulation of metallic glasses, Structural & magnetic frustration of materials.

Eligibility:
A. Categories:
1. Regular full-time scholars with Institute Assistance.
2. Sponsored Scholars: Candidates who possess the minimum prescribed qualifications and are in service in any of the following establishments shall be eligible for admission to the PhD program as Sponsored Scholars:
i) Defence or other ministries of the Government of India or any other government organizations; 
ii) Established industrial research and development organizations
iii) Autonomous bodies and public undertakings
iv) Universities / Colleges

B. Qualification:
PhD (Engineering):
60% marks or 6.75 CGPA in MTech / ME with consistently good academic record or BTech / BE with 70% or 7.5 CGPA with valid GATE Score (very good) and consistently good academic record in the relevant field.

PhD (Science):
1st class in MSc / MTech with consistently good academic record (equivalent CGPA) and valid GATE / NET CSIR / UGC score in the relevant field.

PhD (HSS):
55% marks or equivalent CGPA in Master degree with UGC/NET score OR 
MPhil degree in the relevant field.

Application fee of Rs.500/- (General/OBC) (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST) should be accompanied, in the mode of DD in favour of  Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, with printout of the application.

Completed application, sign and send to Officer on Special Duty (Academics), Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, Toshali Bhawan, Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar – 751007, Odisha along with the requisite fees and copy of the enclosures attested by a Gazetted Officer or equivalent. Please super scribe ‘PhD  Application’ on the top of the envelop.
