Admission Notice to the B.Ed. Course (2014-2015)
(N.C.T.E. Approved Self Financed B.Ed. Course)

Applications are invited from Graduate (preferably with Honours /Master degree) candidates in a (10+2+3) pattern (except deputed category) in prescribed forms obtainable from the University Sales Counter from 16th May, 2014 on payment of Rs.50/- for General and Rs.25/- for SC/ST/PC students for the B.Ed. Course of the academic session 2014-2015. Applicants ( freshers’ only), must have Bachelor degree / Master degree examination (with at least 50% marks in aggregate in case of candidates belonging to General category , 45% marks for Physically Challenged , Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Categories ) of Calcutta University or other recognized Universities with Home Science as one of the Subjects. Two school subjects should be chosen from the following subjects as method papers: 1) Food and Nutrition 2) Home Management 3) English 4) Bengali 5) Education 6) Work Education 7) History 8) Physical Science 9) Life Science. Method subjects to be Chosen as per NCTE norms from the subjects studied at under graduate level by respective candidates. Requirement of 50% (fifty) marks shall not apply for persons appointed as teachers prior to the commencement of the NCTE, (Regulations, Norms & Procedure)Second Amendment Regulations,2010 as laid down at para 8(i) of the aforesaid Gazette. Applications complete in all respect along with self attested copies of certificates and testimonials must be submitted to the Office of the Viharilal Colllege of Education, 20E, Judges Court Road, Alipore , Kolkata -700027 up to 11.00 am on all working days on or before 30th May, 2014.

Admission to the said course is based on merit followed by counselling.

Age limit: 40 years for Fresher Candidates and 45 years for Deputed candidates as on 30.6.2014. There is a relaxation of age for maximum of 5(five) years for students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and Physically Challenged categories.

Reservation of seats for Calcutta University students 95% and for Non-C.U. students 5% will be followed as per C.U. norms and usual reservations rules (SC-22%, ST-6% and PC-3%) will be applicable. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe applicants from the other states will not get the reservation facilities of S.C./S.T.

Provisional merit list will be published on 17thJune, 2014 after 3pm on the College Notice Board.

No individual intimation will be given.

The date of counselling and admission schedule will be announced on the date of publication of the merit list.

Names of the selected candidates who will fail to report on 1st July 2014 and who will remain absent continuously for 15(fifteen) days without prior information will be automatically struck off. The application form can be downloaded from the official website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in.  Downloaded application forms completed in all respects along with the proof of payment Rs. 50/-(fifty only) for general and Rs. 25/ for SC/ST/PC by C.U. challan will be received in the office of the concerned department. If required, additional forms may be down loaded however, Rs. 50/- is to be paid by C.U. challan for submission of each additional form.
Admission fees and other fees will not be refundable once admitted for the B.Ed. course on any circumstances.
