ADMISSION PROCEDURES 
Schedule for admission procedure has been mentioned in the Application Form. List of the candidates for admission test, viva-voce and admission will be displayed on the notice board of the Registrar as well as the office of the Department of Tea Science. It is for the candidates to see the notice board in time. The University will not take responsibility for any postal delay or non-receipt of letter by any candidate.

ELIGIBILITY
Any Graduate of the University of North Bengal or any other recognized University in any discipline including Agriculture is eligible to apply. Those appearing in the final graduate-level examinations may also apply.

AGE LIMIT
For admission, preference will be given to candidates up to 25 years of age as on August 1 of the year.

SEATS
Total number of seats is 35 (thirty five) only including 2 (two) seats reserved for the candidates from other SAARC countries.

RESERVATION OF SEATS
Scheduled Caste – 22% ; Scheduled Tribe – 6% ; BPL / Antyodaya – 3%; Physically Challenged – 3 %.
If the ST candidates fall short of the reserved quota, the vacancies will be filled up by the SC candidates. If the SC candidates fall short of the reserved quota, the vacancies will be filled up by the candidates of general category subject to the approval of the District Authority.
If there is no applicant from BPL/Antyodaya / Physically challenged categories, the seats will be filled up by the candidates of general category.
3 (three) percent of the intake shall be kept reserved for the candidates holding B.P.L / Antyodaya certificates. The selection of such candidates will be on the basis of merit.

Other policies regarding admission will be as per the Admission Policy of the University.

If any problem arises regarding the interpretation of any item / part of the selection principles the matter shall be referred to the Vice-Chancellor.


FOREIGN STUDENTS
The students from other countries must submit all relevant documentsincluding citizenship certificate along with the application form.

SELECTION
Selection will be made on the basis of a written examination comprising questions on English, general knowledge, current affairs and general aptitude, followed by interview (for those who qualify in the former).

COURSE FEE ( NON-REFUNDABLE)
Course fee of Rs. 40,000/- (rupees forty thousand only) [Rs. 50,000/- (Indian Currency) in case of candidates from other SAARC countries] is payable in two equal installments, the first at the time of admission and the second one before enrolment for the first Semester examination. Such fee shall cover only tuition fee. The students will have free access to the library of the department. Registration fee, Examination fee etc. will be charged as per the University regulations. Other expenses e.g., cost of preparation of project reports, dry and wet specimens, herbarium, practical exercise books, visit to research centre, kits, dress, photocopy of course materials will have to be borne by the candidates themselves. However, to and fro rail fare (single fare double journey) towards visit to Tocklai Experimental  Station, Assam or UPASI Tea Research Foundation, Tamil Nadu will be provided by the University.

ACCOMMODATION
The course is non-residential, hence, all students will have to make their own arrangement for board and lodging  in the vicinity of the University Campus.

NOTE: Those intending to submit the application Form by downloading from NBU website (www.nbu.ac.in) are required to enclose a bank draft of Rs. 200.00 in favour of the University of North Bengal or pay the amount in cash at the cash counter of the university.
