Masters Program in Positive Organization Development & Change

offered jointly by XLRI Jamshedpur and Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management (Cleveland, USA)

Changing the World, Changing You
The Master of Science Program in Positive Organization Development and Change (or MPOD), pioneered by the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, USA), is now being offered for the first time in India in partnership with XLRI Jamshedpur. It is specifically geared toward the needs of executives and change agents from around the world who face a torrent of continual change, increasing complexity, and growing interconnectedness in multicultural contexts; and who must respond to these challenges in ways that yield economic value for their organizations while upholding standards of environmental and social responsibility.
Toward these ends, the MPOD emphasizes strength-based and positive approaches to managing change, designing sustainable institutions, formulating effective strategy, creating high-engagement work cultures, leading through Emotional Intelligence, and coaching for high performance and deep personal and professional development. This degree will be of value to organizations with aspiring managers who wish to:
Build new capabilities in strategic-level change management for value creation with customers and communities
Broaden their knowledge of leading-edge theory and practice in Appreciative Inquiry, strength-based human resource development, and positive organizational change research
Develop the competencies and the Emotional Intelligence to coach and foster leadership skills and personal character in themselves and others
Form extraordinary groups and organizations-Sustainable Enterprises that enable human flourishing, that are economically prosperous and ecologically advanced, and that contribute to uniting the strengths of markets with universal ideas
Engage in lifelong Experiential Learning to realize, develop, and model themselves as agents for change
The MPOD program is grounded in the basic belief that the self can be a powerful instrument for change; and that personal and professional development go hand in hand. The learning experience will involve experiential opportunities for participants to become self-aware, to practice and experiment with new skills, and to give and receive coaching that can be life-changing.

 Program Format
The MPOD will be conducted in 6 modules spread over 15 months. The modules will be conveniently spaced 10 to 12 weeks apart-thereby making the program flexible enough to accommodate the busy schedules of executives and enabling them to attend school without leaving their employment.
Each module will be of four to seven days' duration. Four of these modules will be held at XLRI Jamshedpur or other Indian locations. The final two modules will be held back-to-back over a fortnight at Weatherhead's CWRU campus in Cleveland.
The intervening periods between program modules will involve project work, self-study, and online guidance by the program faculty at XLRI and Weatherhead.

 Program Faculty
The program will be taught by high-profile thought leaders, authors, researchers, and practitioners who have had pioneering impact in the areas of Human Resource Development, Appreciative Inquiry, Emotional Intelligence, Resonant Leadership, Sustainable Enterprise, Change Management, and Strategic Thinking. They will be drawn from both XLRI and Weatherhead.

Why Is It Worth Doing the XLRI-Weatherhead MPOD?
The context of organizational development has shifted radically over the past 20 years. Customer service, productivity, and the bottom line are no longer the only benchmarks of business success. Today's leaders need to be prepared to embrace accelerated change and new technology, distributed organizing, social entrepreneurship, multicultural workforces, and globalization. Personal and organizational success still requires a strategic focus on technical, relational, and human factors-but all with an additional skill set to lead and bring about effective change and adaptation.
The innovative MPOD, delivered jointly by XLRI and Weatherhead, develops a unique "portfolio of mastery" in each participant, based upon fundamental pillars of knowledge: positive change leadership, Sustainable Enterprise creation, strategic impact and value to business, leading with Emotional Intelligence, and Experiential Learning.
The MPOD educates and develops leaders who will create enduring social systems that offer extraordinary value to all stakeholders, nourish the cooperative human spirit, and contribute to ecologically sustainable societies and global well-being.
You should consider enrolling in the MPOD if you:
Want to learn how to align organizational strengths to make weaknesses irrelevant (because deficit-based and problem-centered approaches have worn thin)
Truly want to understand and apply what differentiates outstanding managers from average performers
Want to help your organization achieve greater economic value by doing what is environmentally effective and socially responsible
Are interested in improving the success ratio for managing change initiatives that exceed the norm by a factor of two
Are interested in interacting and learning with other aspiring managers in a secure environment that allows for more than superficial feedback and stimulates innovative thinking
Truly want to bring out the best in all those who work with you, or for you
Believe learning and development should be fun and experience-based
