Applications have been invited by AKG Memorial Co-Operative College of Nursing, Kannur for admission to Post Basic BSc Nursing and BSc Nursing Courses of the year 2013 - 2014

Eligibility for Admission
Post Basic BSc Nursing:
A candidate seeking admission to Post Basic BSc Nursing  course:
Should have passed the Higher secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent to it with physics, chemistry and biology as optional and diploma in General nursing and Midwifery course of 3or 31/2 years duration approved by the INC with a minimum of 50% marks   aggregate.
Should have obtained registration with KNC and eligibility certificate for the candidates who have passed qualifying examination outside the state of Kerala.
The upper age limit for the course is 45 years
BSc Nursing:
Academic:
a. Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination  of the Board of  Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent examination recognized by any of the universities in the state of Kerala with 50% marks in Biology separately and 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology put together are eligible for admission (for  SC / ST 40% marks)
b. Candidates who have passed BSc degree (3 years course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biochemistry as Main, and any one or two of the above subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together  subject to the condition that they have passed higher secondary examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission.
c. Eligibility certificate: Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from outside the state of Kerala shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualifying examination from the Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences, Thrissur. This should be furnished at the time of interview

Age:
1. Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on 31st December 2013. No relaxation of the minimum age will be allowed.
2. Self-attested copy of relevant page of school record namely SSLC / ICSE / CBSE certificate showing  date of birth / copy of birth certificate from appropriate authority should be furnished along with the application in proof of age.

Applications:
The application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the college office and A.K.G Hospital Kannur on all working days - 10 am to 5 pm, on payment of Rs. 500/- directly or by DD (Rs. 550/-) drawn in favour of Principal, A.K.G Memorial Co-operative College of Nursing, Kannur payable at Kannur.

Duly filled application form along with the documents should reach Principal, AKG Memorial Co-operative College of Nursing, Mavilayi, Mavilayi (P.O), Kannur-670 622 on or before 15-06-2013.


Govt / General merit seats:- GM seats are those seats set apart for the students allotted by the Govt. through the selection procedures of L.B.S Centre, following the guidelines of INC, KNC and University.
Management seats:- Management seats are those seats set apart for the eligible candidates selected from the applications received against the notification by the management directly based on the merit in qualifying exam and interview.
NRI :- NRI seats are  those seats set apart for the Son/Daughter, Brother/Sister, Niece /Nephew, first cousin or dependant of non resident Indian citizen or in their absence,  foreign citizen of Kerala origin or their absence NRI’s who are non-Keralites.
NRI candidates seeking admission to B.Sc. Nursing course should enclose a copy of one of the following documents to prove the  NRI status of his/her parent and declaration of the NRI in the prescribed   form to establish his/her relationship with the candidates.
4    Attested copy of the relevant pages of the  Passport  containing Visa details
4    Attested copy of the employment certificate and relevant pages of the certificate
4    Certificate issued by the Scheduled Bank stating that he/she is non resident Indian  holding a NRI account other than a Zero balance account
Area of study include:
Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing foundations, English, Community health nursing ,Medical-Surgical nursing, Computer science, Pharmacology, Pathology, Child health nursing, Mental health nursing, Nursing research and  Statistics, Obstetrical and Gynaecological nursing, Nursing management and Management of nursing  services and education.
General Information
University Examination shall be conducted ordinarily twice in a year ( one regular and  one supplementary examination every year).
Internal assessment through sessional exams, Seminars, Assignments, Projects, Clinical evaluation, Internal practical examination etc.
Candidates who have undergone the prescribed course of study for a period of not less than 10months of the academic year only can appear for the examination. A candidate who is absent for a total of more than 60 days  continuously by interrupted within a period of 3 months during an academic year shall not be eligible to continue the course with the same batch of students.
50% marks for the internal assessment is mandatory for appearing the University examination.
Candidates must secure 80% attendance in theory and practical in each subject in order to appear for the University examination.
100% attendance in clinical practice must be acquired before the award of the degree as per Indian Nursing Council / University guidelines.
Medium of instruction is in English. Students are expected to have proficiency in English language, verbal as well as written.
Selection and Admission
1.     Selection of the candidates for management seats  will be done among the candidates who have applied through the college, based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and in the interview held by the Management. 
2.     The Selected candidates will be informed of the date and time of admission
3.     The Students shall pay the fees of the first year of the course at the time of admission which will not be refunded under any circumstances.
4.     If any candidates discontinue the course after closing of admission, she/he has to pay the full fee of the remaining course (4years).T.C will be issued only after payments of the above amount
5.     The candidates are expected to produce the following documents in original at the time of admission
(a)   S.S.L.C. mark list
(b)  Plus two mark list
(c)   4 Passport size photograph
(d)   Transfer certificate 
(e)   Course and Conduct Certificate issued by the head of educational institution last attended
(f)    Hepatitis B vaccination certificate
