BE/BTech/BArch (Other State Candidates) Admission Notice 2013-2014

Application Form for Admissions to B. E. / B. Tech. / B. Arch. Degree Courses for the seats reserved for Other State Candidates in University Departments of Anna University for the academic year 2013 – 2014

1. Application Number generated in the printout is the Registration Number for B. E. / B. Tech. / B. Arch. Degree Courses 2013. This number should be written in all the enclosures.

2. ALLOCATION OF SEATS
2.1. Fifty seats (including 1 seat for Kashmiri Migrant) are reserved for B. E. / B. Tech. Degree Courses in University Departments of Anna University, Chennai-25.
2.2. Two seats are reserved for B. Arch. Degree Course in University Department of Anna University, Chennai-25.
2.3.A candidate needs to submit only one application for all the courses mentioned above.
2.4. Duration of the Programme B. E. / B. Tech. 4 Academic years comprising of 8 semesters B. Arch. 5 Academic years comprising of 10 semesters

3. ELIGIBILITY
General
Applicant should be a citizen of India but not a native of Tamil Nadu. A certificate of Permanent residence in the
format given in Certificate I should be furnished (English version only will be accepted).
Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions given below as on the last date of submission of applications are eligible to apply. Passing the qualifying examination after the last date of submission of application shall not be
considered.

4. ELIGIBILITY FOR B. E. / B. Tech.
4.1. Minimum Qualification
A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in the relevant subjects as
prescribed in item No. 4.2.
OR
Any other equivalent qualification with relevant subjects approved by the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu.

4.2. Minimum Eligibility Marks

Note:
When the candidates produce grade certificates, they have to produce the actual marks also otherwise only the
minimum marks applicable to the grades in the eligible subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) will be taken
into account.

Improvement marks:
As per the Government of Tamil Nadu G.O. Ms. No. 184 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 09.06.2005 and G.O. (st) No. 143 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 06.05.2008 improvement marks obtained by the candidates from 2006 onwards will not be considered.

4.3. Mining Engineering Branch
Only Male candidates are eligible.

4.4. MODE OF SELECTION FOR B. E. / B. Tech.
The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination.
The academic marks in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics 100, Physics + Chemistry =100) will be considered for Ranking.
Normalisation of Marks and Inter-se Merit As per Tamil Nadu Acts No.3 of 2007, dt: 05.03.2007 and G.O. (Ms) No.77 HE (J2) Dept, dt: 05.04.2007, the marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by various Boards or Authority shall be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method of normalisation.
(e.g.) If the highest marks secured by the student of State Board of Tamil Nadu in Physics is 100 and the highest  arks secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90 both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100. If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below.

After normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list. The candidate’s regionwise rank will also be indicated.
An overall merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 200. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as follows.

(1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics, (2) Percentage of marks in Physics, (3) Percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject, (4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) and (5) Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).
The overall rank, regionwise rank and Community-wise rank lists will be published in Anna University, Chennai website http://www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2013
. Details will not be given in Newspapers. The date and time of counselling will be informed by post through the counselling call letter.
The campus and the branch will be provisionally allotted only through counselling. Branches will be allotted as per overall rank.

5.  ELIGIBILITY FOR B. Arch.
5.1. Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility
(i) (a) HSC (Academic)/Equivalent
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
(1) General category
candidates should have secured not
less than 50 % marks in aggregate.
(2) SC/ ST
candidates should have secured not less than 45 % marks in aggregate.
(b) Diploma
Candidates who have passed 10+3 year Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central / State Governments.
(1) General category
candidates should have secured not less than50 % marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
(2) SC/ST
candidates should have secured not less than 45 % marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
(c) International Baccalaureate Diploma
Candidates who have passed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics as compulsory subject.
(1) General category
candidates should have secured not less than50 % marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
(2) SC/ST
candidates should have secured not less than 45 % marks in aggregate in all the semesters put together.
Note:
1. When the candidates produce grade certificates, they have to produce the actual marks also otherwise only the minimum marks applicable to the grades in the eligible subjects will be taken into account.
2. For the purpose of calculation of marks in respect ofsandwich Diploma candidates, the marks of all the other semesters except industrial training shall be considered.

5.2. APTITUDE TEST
The candidates should have passed (pass mark is 80 out of 200) the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2013 conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.
5.3. MODE OF SELECTION FOR B. Arch.
The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and also in the NATA 2013 conducted by the Council of Architecture. The candidates should have passed NATA and should submit a copy of the mark sheet along with the application. Those who have not appeared and passed in the NATA are not eligible for B. Arch. Degree Course.
HSC Academic/Diploma/Equivalent The total academic marks for HSC (Academic/Equivalent) will be reduced to 200. For Diploma candidates the academic marks in all the semesters put together will be reduced to 200.
The maximum mark for NATA is 200.
Ranking of the candidates will be based on 400 marks (NATA mark 200 and Academic mark 200).
A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of  400. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as given below.
(1) Academic Aggregate for 200 (2) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) (3) Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).
The overall rank and community-wise rank lists will be published in Anna University, Chennai website http://www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2013
. Details will not be given in the News papers. The candidates will also be informed of their rank individually by post through the counselling call letter.
The college will be provisionally allotted only through counselling.

6. ALLOCATION OF SEATS
6.1 B. E./B. Tech. seats are allocated for General and SC/ST candidates regionwise as given below (Refer Annexure II).
6.2Kashmiri migrant seat will be reverted to Northern Region quota if there is no application.
6.3 ALLOCATION OF SEAT FOR B. Arch. Only two seats are reserved for all the regions.

7. COUNSELLING OF CANDIDATES
7.1   Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, the branch/campus chosen by the candidate will be allotted. Candidates have to opt for campus and branches that are available at the time of counselling. The counselling call letter will be sent in the self addressed cover enclosed by the candidate.
7.2 Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of 5000/- by Cash or DD drawn in favour of “The Director, Admissions, Anna University” payable at Chennai and produce all the original certificates during counselling. 7.3 If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such cases only, copies of certificates attested only by the Head of the Institution shall be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates.
7.4  Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before
the counselling session on the dates given in the website along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.
CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED.

The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates, and it w
ill be published in Anna University, Chennai – 25 website. Change of date/time of counselling is not permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non receipt of intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend the
counselling have to forego the claim for admission.
Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorise his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate.
Once allotted a seat, ` 5,000/- already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee.
If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund, only 80 % of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded, if original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment is surrendered on or before 31.12.2013.

8. REGISTRATION NUMBER FOR ADMISSION
8.1  Application Number generated in the internet form is the Registration Number for Admission 2013.
8.2 All the enclosures in the application should bear the Registration Number at the top right hand corner.
8.3 The Registration Number should be quoted in all future correspondence.
9. PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION OF APPLICATION FORM The candidates can register only through internet by logging on to www.annauniv.edu/otherstate2013

After entering the required information in the application form, press the submit button, then take a printout, the printout contains filled-in application and format for Permanent Residence Certificate. Affix a photograph and affix the  signature at the appropriate spaces provided. You have to get the signature from the competent authority in the  Permanent Residence Certificate and send along with the fill ed-in application. The printout application along with the  registration fee in the form of a D.D. only should be sent along with all the enclosures by Speed/ Registered post to the address given below.

The last date for registration is 28.06.2013 (5.30 p.m.)


10. GENERAL
10.1. The candidates are required to enclose only the attested copies of the following certificates along with the application:
(i) Mark sheets (All appearance) of HSC or Equivalent Examination
(ii) Mark Sheet of X Standard
(iii) Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate
(iv) Community Certificate (for SC/ST candidates)
(v) Permanent Residence Certificate
(vi) NATA mark sheet and Hall Ticket (for B. Arch.only)
(vii) A Demand draft for `500/- or 1000/- towards registration fee (viii) Self addressed stamped (` 25/-) envelope
10.2. Applications received after the due date, not in the prescribed form, not correctly filled up or the prescribed certificates and documents are not enclosed or do not otherwise fulfill the terms of the instructions will be considered defective and are liable for rejection without notice. Anna University will not be responsible for postal delay or otherwise in respect of receipt of application after the due date. No correspondence will be entertained in this respect.
10.3. The candidates have to report to the Dean of the campus to which they are allotted within the time notified in the Provisional Allotment Order, failing
which the provisional allotment order will stand automatically cancelled. No request for reconsideration of admission shall be entertained.
10.4.Selected candidates and their parents/ guardians will haveto give a joint declaration in the form provided. This declaration should be given to the Dean of the campus at the time of admission.
10.5. Candidates should ensure that correct marks are furnished by him/her in his/her application. If it is found that the marks furnished by him/her in the application are not correct, then he/she will forfeit the admission at any stage of study.
10.6. The candidates are informed that admission given at the time of counselling is only Provisional.
In accordance with rules prescribed for admission, if they are found ineligible on actual verification of original certificates / particulars by the Dean / University, they cannot claim any right for admission or continuation of study at any stage.
Further, the confirmation of Admission is subject to verification of marks / certificates by the authorities. If the mark sheet is found to be not a genuine one, (i) Admission is liable for cancellation at any stage of study (ii) The candidate will be debarred from pursuingany course of study for a period of 3 years (iii) Legal action will be taken against the candidate for furnishing forged marks

11. General Instructions
11.1. Enclose copies of all the relevant certificates, along with the print out application. Submission of certificates at
a later date shall not be accepted.

11.2. Candidates are advised to post the completed application well in advance so as to reach Anna University Chennai, before the specified date and time. If it is sent by post it is advisable to send by Registered post/ Speed  post to ensure proper delivery.

11.3. Candidates desirous of receiving call letter for counselling by Registered Post / Speed Post must affix stamps overing Speed Post / Registered Post and must also superscribe on the cover.

11.4. Allotted candidates will be given the provisional allotment order and receipt for 5000/-. The remaining tuition fee has to be paid in the colleges before the date specified in the provisional allotment order.

If a candidate fails to report for admission on or before the date indicated in the provisional allotment order he/she has to forfeit the seat and cannot claim later.
Selection of the college and the course is  the sole responsibility of the candidate.

11.5. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THE CAMPUS  OR BRANCH ALLOTTED WILL BE CHANGED.

11.6. For any correspondence, quote the Registration Number as generated in the printout form.
11.7. The Director (Admissions), reserves the right to accept or reject any a pplication without assigning any reason.
