Ph.D Admission Notice 2013-2014
Research at IISER Pune covers a wide range of
research areas in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. In addition, we
actively encourage research initiatives that span multiple disciplines.
IISER Pune offers modern research laboratories and
computational facilities as well as comfortable housing for students selected
into a graduate program at the institute. A core component of graduate student
life at IISER Pune includes opportunities to participate in a broad range of
seminars, meetings and workshops. This gives our students opportunities to
interact with people from other research organizations within the country and
abroad.
IISER Pune runs PhD program in Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and Mathematics.
For discipline specific criteria please read the
following:
1) Chemical Sciences:
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
60% marks or equivalent CGPA for General/OBC (55%
for SC/ST) in M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry /Physics/ Mathematics
/Biochemistry /Material Science/ Bioinformatics/Pharmacy.
Additionally, the candidate MUST have qualified any
ONE of the following exams:
National Eligibility Test (NET) with VALID
CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF-A or ICMR-JRF.
OR
Must have passed CSIR-LS or DAE-JEST or GATE in
last two years with a valid score.
OR
IISER BS-MS Dual degree students with CGPA greater
than or equal to 7.0
2) Physical Sciences:
Minimum Educational Qualification:
60% marks or equivalent CGPA for General/OBC (55%
for SC/ST) in M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Physics
And the candidate MUST have at least one of the
following national fellowships
VALID CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF
OR
INSPIRE-PhD fellowship AND having qualified one of
the national level physics tests: JEST, CSIR-NET or GATE within last two years

Attested copies of all supporting documents (mark
sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.) are to be brought in
at the time of the interview.
