ADMISSIONS 2009-2010

All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mansagangothri, Mysore-570006, an autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has invited applications for admission to various courses for 2009-10.

  1. B.Sc (Speech & Hearing): Applicant should have passed with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST), II PUC in the PCMB Group or any other examination (10+2) considered as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore with at least three subjects from among Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology and should not have completed 21 years as on 1.7.2009. Selection to the Programme will be based on an Entrance Test to be held at Mysore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Guwahati   on 6th June, 2009 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Students qualifying through the entrance examination will be given a stipend of Rs. 400/- per month. Total seats are 62 and the course duration is 4 years.
  2. B.S Ed (Hearing Impairment): Applicant should have passed B. Ed Degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore securing a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination and should not have completed 30 years of age as on the 1st July, 2009.  Relaxation of age (up to 10 years) shall be considered for candidates on deputation/in-service with the approval of the University. Students admitted to the B.S. Ed (Hearing Impairment) course will be given a stipend of Rs. 400/- per month. (32 seats, 1 year duration)
  3. P.G. Diploma in Clinical Linguistics for Speech-Language Pathology (1 year): Applicant should have B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) Degree of the University of Mysore or any other University, approved by RCI and considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% of marks. (Stipend Rs.500/- pm, 10 seats, Course duration 1 year).
  4. P.G. Diploma in Forensic Speech Sciences and Technology: (1 year): Applicant should have passed in any of B.Sc. with Physics / Mathematics / Electronics / Computer Science / Forensic Science / Speech and Hearing as a major component at B.Sc. level/ B.E /B.Tech /Electronics / Computer Science / Communication / M.B.B.S examination of a recognized University/Institute. (10 seats, Course duration 1 year).
  5. M.Sc. (Audiology) & M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology): For both these courses, those with a B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing)/BASLP Degree of the University of Mysore or any other University, approved by RCI and considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission. Admission shall be made only on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance examination to be conducted by the institute at AIISH, Mysore on 4.7.2009. (Stipend Rs.650/- pm, 36 seats subject to approval, Course duration 2 years)
  6. Master in Special Education (Hearing Impairment) M.S.Ed (HI): Those with B.Ed Degree and B.Ed (HI)/B.S.Ed (HI) or equivalent of the University of Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore securing a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination are eligible for admission. Applicant should not have completed 30 years of age as on the 1st July, 2009. Age relaxation of up to 10 years can be considered for candidates on deputation/in-service with the approval of the University. (Stipend Rs.650/- pm, 32 seats, Course duration 1 year)
  7. Ph.D. (Audiology) & Ph.D (Speech-Language Pathology): Applicant must have passed M.Sc. (Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology) or with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) marks, with One year work/research experience. (Stipend Rs.14000/- pm and HRA; 4 seats for each, Duration 3 years)
  8. Post Doctoral Fellowship: Ph.D. from a recognized University in the area of speech, language and hearing. (Stipend Rs.18750/- pm and HRA; 2 seats, Duration 2 years).

Those who have appeared for the final year examination and are awaiting results may also apply. Separate application forms have to be submitted for admission to various courses offered at AIISH, Mysore. The Cost of Application from is Rs. 300/- (Rs.200/- for SC/ST) for B.Sc (Speech & Hearing) & B.S Ed (Hearing Impairment) Programmes. For PG Diploma/M.Sc/M.S.Ed courses, it is Rs.350/- (Rs 250/- for SC/ST). For Ph.D/Post Doctoral, it is Rs.400/- (Rs 300/- for SC/ST). The same can be obtained by sending the DD for the requisite amount drawn in favour of 'Director, AIISH', payable at Mysore. The last date for receipt of filled up applications is 25.5.2009 for B.Sc (Speech & Hearing) courses and 26.6.2009 for all other courses.
