Indian Institute of Surveying and Mapping, (IISM), Survey of India, Hyderabad, a premier institution under Ministry of Science and Technology, imparting training and education in the field of Surveying, Mapping & other related subjects, has invited applications for admission to the M.Sc. (Geospatial Science & Technology) and M.Tech. (Geomatics) Programmes recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. 

M.Sc (Geospatial Science & Technology) and M.Tech (Geomatics) courses, each with an intake of 25, are of two years duration consisting of 4 semesters, to be conducted at IISM with the Degrees to be conferred jointly by IISM and JNTU, Hyderabad.

Applicant for admission to M.Sc. (Geospatial Science & Technology) must be a Science graduate having Mathematics as subject at least at Plus 2/Intermediate/Higher Secondary level. They have to appear for an entrance examination to be conducted by JNTU. Applicants sponsored by Central/State Govt. Organizations or Public/Private Institutions, must be Science graduates having Mathematics as a subject at least at Plus 2/Intermediate/Higher Secondary level with minimum 2 years experience in Surveying/Mapping/GIS/RS. They have to appear before a screening Committee at Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Hyderabad for their selection.

For admission to M.Tech (Geomatics), applicant must have BE/B.Tech/AMIE or equivalent in any branch of Engineering or M.Sc in Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science/Earth Science/Electronics. Applicants have to appear for an entrance examination to be conducted by JNTU. Applicants sponsored by Central/State Govt. Organizations or Public/Private Institution must have BE/B.Tech/AMIE or equivalent in any branch of Engineering or M.Sc in Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science/Earth Science/Electronics with 2 years experience in Surveying/Mapping/GIS/RS. They have to appear before a Screening Committee at Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Hyderabad for their selection.

Those who have appeared for the examinations in current session can also apply for both courses, subject to submitting the successful certificate during admission.
Application Form along with Prospectus will be available at IIISM, Survey of India, Uppal, Hyderabad- 500 039 during office hours on all working days from 2.4.2009 to 29.5.2009 on payment of Rs. 50/-.

They can be obtained by Post from the Institute, by sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- of any Nationalized bank drawn in favour of 'E&AO, IIS&M, Hyderabad' payable at Hyderabad along with a self addressed envelope of size 32 cm x 26 cm.  Prospectus and Application form can also be downloaded from here or from here.

Filled in application must reach IIS&M on or before 5th June.2009.

Entrance examination for both courses will be conducted by JNTU on 10.07.2009 at 1000 hrs, at Survey of India offices located at Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehra Dun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune depending upon the availability of candidates to appear in these places. Applicants selected for entrance test will be intimated by Registered Post/e-mail by 24.6.2009.
 
Entrance Examination for M. Tech (Geomatics) will have sections from (i) Computer Graphics and Programming (ii) Conventional Surveying, Remote   Sensing and Photogrammetry (iii) Geo-Sciences (iv) Probability And Statistics.

The syllabus for M.Sc (Geospatial Science and Technology) Entrance Test will have Units covering (i) Mathematics (ii) Physics (iii) Chemistry (iv) Geology (v) Agriculture, Forestry and Botany and (vi) Ecology and Environmental Science.
