Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for admission to MBA and MCA 2009-2010

Karnataka PGCET Cell has notified the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for admission to MBA and MCA Courses for the year 2009-10.

PGCET is being conducted under the supervision of Central Post Graduate Admission Committee (CPAC) for determining the merit of both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka Candidates for admission to the First year, First Semester of Full-Time (FT) (2 years) and Part-Time (PT) (3 years) Master of Business Administration (MBA), Full-Time (2 years) MBA (Infrastructure Management) and Full-Time (3 years) Master of Computer

Applications (MCA) courses, in University Departments and Institutions affiliated to Bangalore, Gulbarga, Karnatak, Kuvempu, Mangalore, Mysore, Tumku Universities, Karnataka State Women's University and Visvesvaraya Technological University, within the State of Karnataka. Non-Karnataka candidates appearing for PGCET-2009 are eligible only for those seats available against Management quota of Private Professional Institutions that have surrendered their quota of seats to CPAC.

For admission to MBA (FT/PT), applicant should have Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% [45% for SC/ST/Category I) marks in aggregate of all years of Degree examinations.

Those applying for Part-Time MBA must have worked for not less than 3 years, after the qualifying examination (Experience considered up to date of Notification) in an establishment and must be working in an organization within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.

For admission to MBA-Infrastructure Management (FT) applicant should have passed Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Architecture with not less than 50% [45% for SC/ST/Category I) marks in aggregate of all years of the Degree examinations.

For admission to MCA (FT) applicant should have passed Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% [45% for SC/ST/Category I) marks in aggregate of all years of the Degree examinations with Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Computer Programming/Computer Applications/Business Mathematics/Business Statistics as one of the Optional/Elective at Degree Level. An applicant who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre-University Course with 50 %/45% (as applicable) of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. Rounding-off of aggregate percent is not permitted.

The written test for MBA course will be conducted from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and that for MCA course from 2 pm to 4 pm on 12-7-2009 (Sunday) at various centers as specified in Brochure supplied with the application form.

For both Karnataka & Non-Karnataka Students admission will be based solely on performance in written test (PGCET) and through counseling for seat selection as per merit.

Application can be obtained on payment of Rs. 600/- ( Rs 300/- in case of Karnataka SC/ ST and Cat-I, on production of documentary proof) in the form of DD only, drawn in favour of the Member Secretary, CPAC payable at Belgaum.

Request for applications by Post should be sent on a plain paper indicating Name of the applicant, course for which admission is sought, DD No., Date and name of Bank and enclosing the Demand Draft. Application form is also available at www.vtu.ac.in & http://pgcet.vtu.ac.in
 
In such cases, the completed application form should be submitted along with a DD of Rs. 600/- ( Rs 300/- in case of Karnataka SC/ ST and Cat-I, on production of documentary proof) drawn in favour of the Member Secretary, CPAC payable at Belgaum.

Application form will be issued till 5.6.2009. Completed application forms must reach 'The Member Secretary CPAC, & Registrar, VTU, Jnana Sangama, Belgaum-590 018', on or before 5.6.2009.
