SELECTIONS AND ADMISSION
Govt. Quota
(i) 50% of the seats in each Branch will be filled
up by candidates allotted by the Government on the basis of their rank in the
Common Entrance Examination 2013 conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations
subject to applicable reservation quota for specified groups and other rules.
(ii) 15% of the total seats in the College allotted
by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations were earmarked for students belonging
to the community to which the Educational Agency belongs, in our case, the Mar
Thoma Church, on the basis of merit and based upon the Community Certificate issued
by the Sabha Secretary, Mar Thoma Church. Candidates who wish to apply for
admission under this 15% merit quota should apply to the College with a
certificate from the Parish Priest containing his seal and
signature that the candidate belongs to the Mar
Thoma Church and the Mar Thoma Church Educational Society will forward the same
to the Sabha Secretary and obtain the Community Certificate and forward it to the
Commissioner of Entrance Examinations. This process should be completed within
the time-frame fixed by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations.
Management
Quota
(i) Management Quota is 50% of the total seats in
each Branch. 35% of the management seats will be set apart for candidates
belonging to the Marthoma Church, 15% to other Christian candidates and 50% to
open merit candidates. For the above categories separate rank list will be prepared
for each branch on the basis of choice and rank in the merit list.
NRI quota of 15% if unutilized will also form part
of the 50% Management Quota.
(ii) Admission to management quota will be on the
basis of merit only by adding marks obtained in the Entrance Examination
conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala and marks
obtained
for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent
subjects in the qualifying examination. The marks will be apportioned in the
ratio of 50:50
NRI Quota
A maximum of 15% of seats within sanctioned intake
is provided for NRI Category subject to rule and regulations of Competent
Authorities/ Court and given on the basis of marks obtained for Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics in the 12th standard
CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION IN MANAGEMENT
QUOTA
a) Academic
i) Pass in
Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of
Kerala, CBSE, ISC or an examination recognized equivalent thereto with at least
50% marks in Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade. However
candidates who have obtained 45% marks in Mathematics separately with 60%
aggregate marks in Physics and Chemistry put together are also eligible for
admission.
ii) Shall be
qualified in the Entrance Examination 2014, conducted by the CEE, Government of
Kerala for all seats other than NRI Quota.
b) Age
Applicants
should have completed 17 years of age on 31st December 2014. No relaxation of
age will be allowed.
c)
Nationality
Candidates
must be Citizens of India.
5. HOW TO APPLY FOR MANAGEMENT QUOTA ADMISSION
a) Formal application form (common for Management
Quota and NRI Quota) can be obtained from the College Office at Kattaikonam,
Kazhakuttam or Office of MTCES at Mukkolakkal, Trivandrum on payment of Rs.
300/-. Students of St Thomas Schools, Mukkolakkal need pay only Rs. 200/-. The Prospectus
and application form can also be downloaded from the website of the College.
Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs. 300/- in favour
of the St Thomas Institute for Science and Technology,
Trivandrum. The application form can be obtained
from the College from 25th April 2014.
b) The duly completed applications will be
entertained in the College Office as soon as results of the Common Entrance
Examination 2014 are available.
c) Attested copies of the following Certificates
/Documents to be submitted along with application form.
(i) 10th
Pass certificate as proof of the date of birth
(ii) Admit card of the entrance examination
conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination
(iii) Mark
list of the qualifying examination and entrance examination
(iv)
Certificate from Parish Priest that he is a member of the Parish, where a
candidate is a member of the Mar Thoma Church. Additional Documents to be
submitted along with the application for NRI applicants
(v) Copy of
documents to prove NRI status.
(vi) A
Declaration from the NRI in the form given in annexure IV of CEE prospectus
d) The duly filled application may be submitted
directly or by registered post with A/D so as to reach the College on or before
the prescribed date.
Applicants shall obtain acknowledgement from the
College Office for applications submitted directly or from the office of Mar
Thoma Church Educational Society, if it is submitted through the Society
Office.
Application should
be complete in all respects and should be filled in black ink in the candidates
own handwriting.
6. PROCEDURE
FOR SELECTION
1. Admission will be on the basis of merit as
outlined in the admission procedure.
2. Merit list will be published in the Web
site/Notice board of the College.
Candidates should verify the same and take
admission within the prescribed time. Candidates may be required to appear for
an interview at STIST.
3. Furnishing of false information/particulars
would result in forfeiture of candidature as well as cancellation of admission
to the course if already admitted.
7. ADMISSION
PROCESSES
1. Immediately after the publication of the
Entrance Exam results by CEE, the admissions under the Management Quota will be
finalized.
2. The Management reserves the right to deny
admission to any candidate for genuine reason.
3. The rank list will be prepared on the basis of
application with full particulars received by the dates notified. If vacancies
remain additional rank list based upon new applications received which may
include application not included in earlier rank list will be prepared on the
respective rank of the remaining candidates.
4. Before the prescribed date the selected
candidate shall take admission after remitting all the fees and deposits,
failing which the offer of admission will be cancelled.
5. The fees will be as per Government regulations
for the year 2014-15. All amounts payable to the University will also have to
be remitted by the candidate at the time of admission
6. Candidates who do not attend the interview as
per schedule, at the place and time specified, will forfeit his/her chance for
admission and will not be considered for admission to any future vacancy.
