Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D.
Programme in the Department of Marine Science , University of Calcutta, 35,
B.C. Road, Kolkata- 700019, for the year 2014. Candidates should apply in the
prescribed proforma by paying Rs.100/- in the University Cash Counter (as application
fee for Ph.D. admission) through a challan obtainable from the Cash Counter at
C.U. duly forwarded by the Head of the Department or his representative .

Desirable Qualifications: M.Sc in Marine Science or
Equivalent.
In case a candidate wishes to apply for admission
in the Ph.D. Programme in Marine science having preceding qualifying degree for
a subject in which there is no University Post-Graduate Department then he/she
will have to seek an endorsement by the Ph.D. committee of Marine Science. This
endorsement should be submitted along with his/her application for admission to
the Ph.D. programme. [Ref. Clause # 3.3 and Clause # 9.4 of University of
Calcutta (Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D.),
Regulations 2009].
Admission Test will be taken based upon M.Sc
Syllabus of Marine Science.
Those candidates who have already passed NET / SLET
/M.Phil/ Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations are exempted from the
Admission Test. However, they have to qualify in the interview.
Interested candidates are requested to submit the
filled in application form along with self attested testimonials to the office
