Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, South Ambazari Road, Nagpur has invited applications for admission to the following courses of July 2015 session in the concerned departments as mentioned below:
PhD (Full Time) with Teaching Assistantship
PhD (Full Time) Sponsored
PhD (Part Time)

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates, whose ME / MTech / March / MSc result is awaited, can also apply for PhD program. They will have to submit the result of ME / MTech / March / MSc exam by 31st of August 2015, till which time their registration will be provisional.

1. Applied Mechanics:
BE / BTech / AMIE in Civil Engineering AND
ME / MTech in Structural Engineering related specialization with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score.

2. Chemical Engineering:
BE / BTech in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Biochemical Engineering / Biotechnology AND ME / MTech in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Biochemical Engineering / Biotechnology with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score.

3. Civil Engineering:
BE / BTech / AMIE (Civil) and M E / MTech in any branch of Civil Engineering with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
Desirable: GATE score

4. Computer Science and Engineering:
BE / BTech / AMIE or equivalent in any branch of Engineering and ME / MTech or equivalent in one of the following branches Computer Science / Computer Technology / Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Information Science with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score

5. Electrical Engineering:
ME / MTech in Electrical & Electronics / Power Systems / Energy Systems / Control System / Instrumentation & Control / Power Electronics / Electric Drives with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score

6. Electronics & Communication Engineering:
ME / MTech in one of the following branches Electronics and Communication / Electronics / Industrial Electronics / Bio-medical Instrumentation / Power Electronics / Electrical and Electronics / VLSI / Embedded Systems with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score

7. VLSI & Nanotechnology:
ME / MTech in one of the following branches Electronics and Communication / Electronics / Industrial Electronics / Bio-medical / Instrumentation / Power Electronics / Electrical and Electronics / Embedded Systems with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Qualified GATE score or equivalent national level exam in past.

8. Mechanical Engineering:
ME / MTech in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Automobile Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Power Plant Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Energy Systems & Engineering with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score.

9. Metallurgy and Materials Engineering:
ME / MTech in Metallurgy / Material Engineering / Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Chemical with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score.

10. Mining Engineering:
ME / MTech in Mining Engg or related to Mining Engg / Civil Engineering / Env. Engg. / Geo-Tech Engg/ Mine Planning / Rock Mechanics / Opencast Mining / Mineral Engg. OR MSc / MSc Tech in Geology / Applied Geology / Environment with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score.

11. Architecture and Planning
BArch / BE (Civil) / BTech (Civil) / BPlan / BTech (Plan) with MCP / MArch / MDes / MTech (Urban Planning) / MPlan / MURP / ME (T&CP) / other masters in relevant field with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Qualified GATE score or equivalent national level exam in past.

12. Chemistry
MSc in Chemistry (Organic / Inorganic / Analytical / Physical Chemistry / Biochemistry with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Qualified GATE / NET score or equivalent national level exam in past.

13. Humanities and Social Sciences
MA / MBA in English / Sociology / Psychology / Management with a minimum of First Class. Qualified GATE / NET score or equivalent national level exam in past.

14. Mathematics
MSc in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Master’s level. Qualified GATE / NET score or equivalent national level exam in past.

15. Physics
A Master’s Degree in the concerned or an allied subject with a minimum of First Class (CPI or CGPA greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Qualified GATE / NET score or equivalent national level exam in past.
