Ph.D. Admission - February 2013
GENERAL:-
NCCS,
Pune invites application from candidates for PhD admission for Feb, 2013. The
candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens, having consistently good academic
record with strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a
Ph.D. degree and with eligibility mentioned below should apply for the same.
All eligible and interested students need to appear for the Joint Graduate
Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS)
being conducted by TIFR on 09th December 2012 (SUNDAY) at various centers all
over India. For the JGEEBILS examination, applications must be submitted online
to http://univ.tifr.res.in/gs2013/ApplyOnline/Apply_Online.htm Please select
the option "Applying for Biology". The last date for application for
JGEEBILS examination is 26th October 2012.
Those candidates
interested to join NCCS Ph.D program need to also complete NCCS application
form and send it to NCCS as detailed below. Shortlisted candidates fulfilling NCCS
criteria from the JGEEBILS examination will be called for interviews to be held
at NCCS during 21st & 22nd January, 2013.
ELIGIBILITY FOR
NCCS Ph.D. PROGRAM:-
~
Should have M.Sc. degree in any branch of Science having at least 50% or
equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).
~
Holds a valid Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/DSTINSPIRE
/BING and Fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining.
Candidates
who have qualified only for Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET) and the "Project
List of ICMR" are not eligible.
~
Other terms and conditions of the fellowship will be as directed by the agency
awarding the fellowship. The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years which is
relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SCIST/Women/PH and
3 years in case of OBC candidates.
~
Reservation will be as per the Government of India guidelines .
MODE OF
APPLICATION:-
Candidates
should first apply online for JGEEBILS examination and then send hard copy of
NCCS application in the prescribed format (download from the NCCS web site)
quoting the TIFR entrance test reference code. The completed application form
along with the M. Sc. final marks statement and Fellowship certificate/admit
card should reach the Co-ordinator, Academic
Cell, National Centre for Cell Science, Pune University Campus, Ganeshkhind
Post, Pune 411 007 on or before 09th November 2012.
PERSONAL
INTERVIEWS:-
Personal
interview will be held at NCCS, Pune of all shortlisted candidates declared
successful in the Entrance examination (JGEEBILS) as per NCCS criteria. Second
class train fare by shortest route will be paid to only SC/ST Candidates as per
rules. Candidates should make their own arrangements for stay at Pune. Selected
candidates will need to stay for two to three days more for finalization of
guide. Candidates should bring all the original and attested copy of following
documents for attending the interview:
1) Birth
certificate/ proof of Date of birth.
2) If the
candidates belongs to Reserved Category I Physical handicapped suitable
certificate of competent authorities.
3) Statement of
marks of each year/semester of graduation
4) Statement of
marks of each year/semester of (M .Sc.)
5) Fellowship
Certificate.
6) For OBC
category valid Non-creamy layer certificate.
