Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a University established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The University focuses on higher education and research in the areas of Engineering, Medicine, Management, Science, Education, Mass Communication and Social Work. The University has five campuses at Amritapuri (Kollam), Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysore and around 15000 students studying in various disciplines.

Amrita School of Communication conducts a CAP Test (Communication Aptitude Test) every year at the Ettimadai campus to its 3 year B.A Mass Communication programme, 2 year M.A Communication programme and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ) offered at its Ettimadai (Coimbatore) campus.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria will be admitted to the first year of the 3 year B.A,  M.A and PGDJ programmes, based on their performance in the CAP Test, Interview and Group Discussion (applicable only for M.A and PGDJ Programmes).

Admissions to doctoral programs in Communication at the campus are based on Common Entrance Test and Interview held twice a year.

The programs offered at Amrita School of Communication are B.A, M.A, PGDJ and Ph.D programmes in communication.

B. A. MASS COMMUNICATION
Mass Communication is the practical applications of journalism (online or print media), television and radio broadcasting, film, public relations, animation and graphic design, advertising. The program intends instruction in the role and function of mass media in the society. It combines knowledge creation and extension, craft and context, with practical applications in a study programme of proven excellence.

M. A. IN COMMUNICATION
The Master of Arts in Communication program engages in a broad array of courses that range from the development of hands-on skills to the exploration of theory, to a focus on practice and application, and analysis of state-of-art research. This stimulating course which creates professionals with advanced communication skills. The course recognises the advances in communication technologies and the increasing globalisation of business enterprises. Graduates of the program serve as scholars and educators or shoulder responsibilities as communicative and creative professionals that meet global standards.

P. G. DIPLOMA IN JOURNALISM (P. G. D. J.)
The one year Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (P. G. D. J.) program at the Amrita School of Communication imparts training to students interested in print journalism who aspire to become journalists in newspapers and magazines . This also provides students an opportunity to make a lateral entry into our M.A. (Communication) program in the second year, in the print specialization stream.

PH. D. IN COMMUNICATION
The Ph. D. in Communication Studies draws on preeminent research in both the humanities and social sciences traditions. The program is designed for those intending to pursue a teaching and research career in higher education. After a core curriculum of courses include print media, broadcast media, new media, film studies, integrated marketing communication and advertising each student builds a research specialization and enters into academic teaching and research careers, or communication-related professions that require research skills.

Eligibility Criteria for ASCOM Admission 2015:
B. A. Mass Communication
Communication Aptitude Test - CAPTEST (Entrance Exam)
Pass in 10+2 examination with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Personal Interview (PI)
M. A. in Communication & P. G. Diploma in Journalism (P. G. D. J.)
A pass in bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with an aggregate 60% marks. Candidate from the foreign universities should obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. ADMISSION PROCESS:
All candidates are required to appear for the CAPTEST conducted by Amrita University.
Selection is based on performance in Communication Aptitude Test -
CAPTEST (Entrance Exam)*
Group Discussion (GD)
Personal Interview (PI)
* Candidate with more than 70% aggregate marks during the first two years of their degree are exempted from appearing for the CAPTEST. However, they will have to appear for PI and GD.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
Based on performance in the qualifying examination, personal interview, Group Discussion and industry experience.

2 Photographs
Attested photocopies of
10th and 122th Std Mark Sheets  for B.A applications
10th and  12th  Std Mark Sheets  and Mark Sheets for all semesters of the Bachelor’s programme for M.A applications*

A demand draft for Rs.350 made out in favour of “Amrita School of Communication” payable at ‘Coimbatore’.

10th T.C (if applicable)
Community Certificate (if applicable)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORM
Multiple applications submitted by a candidate will be rejected.
If payment is not done, the application will be treated as incomplete and rejected without any notice.
Change in the application form data is not allowed after the submission.
Only students who produce original mark sheets for verification will be allowed to appear in the entrance test
For special cases, a SKYPE evaluation process can be arranged, subject to the discretion of the department. In such cases, candidate is advised to attach a request letter (mentioning their SKYPE ID) to the admissions coordinator, along with the 6 items mentioned in the Submission Check List.
*Copy of provisional degree certificate/degree certificate should be produced at the time of writing the entrance exam
