B.Sc. Nursing course in the Indian Army

The Army has invited applications from women, unmar­ried, divorced or widowed without encum­brances, for admission to the four-year B.Sc. Nursing course starting in August 2014 at the colleges of nurs­ing and a three-and-a-half-year diploma course in Gen­eral Nursing and Midwifery commencing in September 2014 at the schools and col­leges of nursing of armed forces hospitals.

The selected candidates shall execute a bond to serve in the Military Nursing Ser­vice for five years. There will be no tuition fee, and students will be provided free rations, accommodation, uniform, allowance and monthly stipend.

The applicants should be Indian citizens born between August 1, 1989 and July 31, 1997 and should have passed the Plus Two examination as a regular student in the first attempt with Physics, Chem­istry, Biology and English with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate in these subjects.

Those appearing for the fi­nal year of the qualifying ex­amination during the current academic .session may also apply. Minimum height should be 148 cm and weight 39 kg. Eye sight should be normal.

Eligible applicants will be called for an objective-type written test of 90 minutes, covering General English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Intelligence, likely to be held in February 2014.

Those qualifying in the test will be called for an interview during April. Final selection will be based on the combined merit in the written test and the interview, subject to med­ical fitness.

The written test centres in­clude Kochi, Thiruvanan-thapuram, Ezhimala (Kannur), Wellington, Chen-nai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chandirmandir, Danapur, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Secunderabad and Kolkata.
