The programme
The tour will present cutting-edge research activities in the field of computer science in southwest Germany. Visits to universities and research institutions in the cities of Constance, Freiburg, Karlsruhe and Saarbrücken are planned.
In order to create an optimum basis for the initiation of joint projects, the programme will focus on issues relating to Artificial Intelligence and Visual/Multimodal Computing, such as Autonomous Intelligent Systems, Humanoid Robots, Ambient Assisted Living, Visual Analytics or Simulation Technology. Comprehensive information on funding opportunities for cooperation in education and research in the field of computer science – such as the DAAD's funding scheme "FITweltweit" – will also be provided.

Who may apply?
Applicants typically have a strong research background and an equally strong interest in international cooperation. As experienced scientists, their research profile matches the topic of the science tour. They must have held a PhD/doctorate for at least two years and be affiliated to a non-German university/research institute.
Those who currently work as research administrators in universities or research institutes, as policy-makers in national agencies or as other experts in the fields of science and higher education are also welcome to apply.

All applicants should be in a position to initiate and manage major projects in cutting-edge research or educational cooperation. They should not have recently participated in another informational trip to Germany. German language skills are not necessary since the programme will be conducted in English. To apply, please visit the website www.research-ingermany.de/sciencetour2014.
