The Institute of Mathemat­ical Sciences (IMSc) is con­ducting a two-day workshop on September 30 and October 1, titled "Enriching Mathe­matics Education," for math­ematics teachers at the higher secondary school level.

at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai.

Date and time: Monday and Tuesday, 30 September and 01 October 2013, 0900--1700 hrs.
Venue: Ramanujan Auditorium, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Taramani, Chennai.

This programme is part of the outreach activities of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai. This is the second workshop in this series, the first having been organized in August 2012 during the IMSc golden jubilee year. The broad goal of this series of workshops is to bring together research mathematicians and school teachers in an effort to enrich mathematics education in schools. Specific activities during the workshop will include lectures on school level mathematics from alternative perspectives, talks on pedagogy, and interactive sessions focussing on issues related to mathematics teaching in schools.

How to participate: The workshop is primarily aimed at mathematics teachers at the senior secondary level (XI and XII standards). Teachers wishing to participate are requested to register their names online here. The programme is free: there is no fee of any kind. Please fill out the registration form carefully. You will receive an email invitation if your application is accepted. The deadline for registration is 2359 hrs on Wednesday, September 25. The list of selected participants will also be posted on this webpage on September 26. For any queries or if there are any difficulties in registering, please email imsc.mathematics@gmail.com.

Lunch, tea/coffee and snacks will be provided free to all registered participants during the two days of the programme.
Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel to IMSc. A travel allowance of Rs. 150 per day will be provided to participants (subject to budgetary approval).
A certificate of participation will be issued to all participants.
