Enrollment of Ph.D in Ancient History and
Archaeology 2014
Application in the
prescribed form in two sets are invited by Karnataka State Open University,
Mysore from the eligible candidates for Enrollment for Ph.D programme in the
University P G Department of Ancient History and Archaeology for the year 2014.
ELIGIBILITY:
1) A candidate who has
obtained Master’s Degree in Ancient History and Archaeology / History or its
equivalent Master’s Degree from Karnataka State Open University or any other
University considered as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 55% marks (50%
for SC/ST/CAT-1 and Physically Challenged candidates) in aggregate or
equivalent grade.
2) The teachers employed
in University / affiliated colleges before 31-03-1992 and are continuing in
service on a regular basis shall be permitted if they have a minimum of 50% of
marks at the Master’s Degree level.
SELECTION OF CANDIDATE:
Selection of candidates
for Ph.D programmes will be based on Centralized Entrance Test (Minimum 35%
marks for SC/ST/Cat-1 and 40% Marks for GM & OBC) Interview and marks
obtained in the Qualifying Examinations in the Ratio of 50:50 and overall
minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/CAT-1) and as per Merit Cum Reservation
Policy.
Those Candidates who
have qualified for the U.G.C/ CSIR (JRF) Examination / NET / SLET / GATE /
Teacher Fellowship holder /M. Phil degree holder (Before 17-07-2009) and
candidates who are working under sponsored Major Research Projects are exempted
from the Entrance Test. The selection of these candidates will be based on
their performance in the interview and marks obtained in the Qualifying
Examinations in the Ratio of 50:50.
APPLICATIONS:
Prescribed application
forms along with the detailed notification may be obtained from the Registrar,
Karnataka State Open University, Mukthagangothri, Mysore - 570 006 on payment
of Rs. 2,000/- (Rs. Two Thousand only) (Rs. 1,000/- for SC/ST/CAT-1 Candidate’s
on production of Caste certificate). Students who want to get the prospectus
through post shall pay Rs. 100/- for postal charges (outside Karnataka students
shall pay Rs. 200/-) in addition to the prospectus amount through Challan or
D.D. of any Nationalized Banks drawn in favour of the Finance Officer,
Karnataka State Open Universty, Mukthagangothri, Mysore-570 006.
Duly filled in applications shall be submitted in
two sets along with the required documents on or before 25th January 2014 to
the Chairperson, Ancient History and Archaeology Department, K.S.O.U,
Mukthagangothri, Mysore-06 without fine and with a penal fee of Rs. 1,000/- on
or before 01st February 2014
The Entrance Test will be conducted on 23-02-2014.
