Coffee Entrepreneurship
An intensive programme to train potential and nascent Coffee entrepreneurs in starting and establishing high-growth businesses

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Indian Institute of Plantation Management Bangalore (IIPMB) is a pioneering initiative of IIPMB to promote entrepreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector. The Coffee Board has sponsored CIE-IIPMB to promote Coffee entrepreneurship through a set of focused activities by the centre. IIPMB and the Coffee Board have recently launched the Reachout Programme in Coffee Entrepreneurship to build capacities of potential entrepreneurs for the establishment of new businesses in the Coffee Sector and. thereby, contribute to wealth creation and employment generation in the Country.
Program objective: Provide essential techno-managerial knowledge and skills required by potential and nascent Coffee entrepreneurs to establish and manage high-growth Coffee businesses.
For whom?
(a) Persons who are interested to start Coffee retailing businesses. Roasting and Grinding units or any other business in the Coffee sector.
(b) Persons who have recently started a Coffee business and are desirous of consolidating the venture.
Resource persons: Coffee industry representatives. Technical experts, IIPM faculty etc

Venue : Regional Institute of Co-operative Management (RICM) Sector 32C, Chandigarh

Programme modules:
a. Opportunities for entrepreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector
b. Coffee quality assessment
c. Coffee roasting and grinding businesses
d. Coffee retailing businesses
e. Business planning
f. Support systems for Coffee Businesses

Programme structure:
a. Opportunities for Coffee entrepreneurship would be introduced through presentations and discussions
b. Basic skills in Coffee quality assessment. Roasting & Grinding. Brewing and Cupping would be imparted through practical sessions conducted by experts of the Quality Control Laboratory of the Coffee Board of India
c. Participants would develop draft business ideas that would be reviewed by industry representatives and entrepreneurs
d. Participants who successfully complete the program requirements would have access to free online mentoring support (techno-managerial) for a period of three months from the completion of the program.

Knowledge resource support: Participants would be provided with a kit of selected reading materials relating to Coffee industry and entrepreneurship.

Programme Cost: Selected participants have to pay a program participation fee of Rs. 9,000, inclusive of applicable taxes, working lunch and refreshments. Accommodation, travel cost to/from programme venue and personal costs are not included in the programme fee.

The last date for the filled application and programme fee to be received by CIE-IIPMB is 25th June 2014.
