ADMISSION PROCESS
A candidate has to apply online for registration as per details available at their website www.nist.nic.in
It is mandatory for a candidate to deposit one time non refundable counseling fee of Rs.1000/- from 04-07-2014 in the prescribed manner to gain access to the Online Registration Process.

Applications are invited, in the prescribed manner; through online mode, for admission to B.E. (Full Time) program in N.S.I.T. (Session 2014-15); from the eligible candidates who have been declared eligible for Central Counselling by the CBSE and placed in the merit/rank list prepared by the C.B.S.E., New Delhi based on the score in JEE (Main) – 2014 and normalised score in Class 12 or other qualifying examination (60% & 40% weightage respectively).

Unless otherwise specified in this Admission Information Brochure:
a) Words imparting the masculine gender include the feminine gender; and
b) Words in singular include their plural and vice-versa

ELIGIBILITY CRITERION FOR ADMISSION
For both Delhi and Outside Delhi Regions, the candidate should have appeared in the JEE (Main)-2014 and placed in the merit/rank list prepared by the CBSE, New Delhi based on the score in JEE (Main) - 2014 and  normalized score in Class 12 or other qualifying examination (60% & 40% weightage respectively).

Eligibility Criterion
A candidate who has passed (in each subject separately) any of the following qualifying examinations from a recognised School/College/Institute located within the NCT of Delhi (for Delhi Region candidate) or located outside the NCT of Delhi (for Outside Delhi Region candidate) and secured 60% or more marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, shall be eligible to apply for admission to the first semester of Bachelor of Engineering Courses subject to other conditions mentioned in this brochure:
1. Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi.
2. Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
3. Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E., by the University of Delhi.
Additionally, a candidate must have passed English as a subject of study either at the 10th Class or 12th Class level.

NOTE:
(i) A Delhi Region candidate means a candidate who has passed out the qualifying examination from a recognised school / college / institute situated in the N.C.T. of Delhi.
(ii) An Outside Delhi Region candidate means a candidate who has passed out qualifying examination from a recognised school / college / institute situated outside the N.C.T. of Delhi.
(iii) A Candidate who has appeared at the appropriate qualifying annual Examination mentioned in Para 1.2.1 above in the year 2014 and placed in compartment will not be eligible for admission for the session 2014-2015.

(iv) A Candidate who has appeared at the appropriate qualifying annual Examination mentioned in Para 1.2.1 above in the year 2014 and has reappeared for the improvement to acquire the eligibility, will not be considered for admission for the session 2014-2015.
(v) No admission will be made directly to the second or any subsequent semesters of a course.
(vi) No change of Course will be permitted after the commencement of the Second Semester, even if some seats fall vacant in some of the Courses during the second semester.
(vii) No admission will be made after 31.07.2014 except admissions against vacancies arising, due to any reason, after a seat has been allotted and subsequently declared vacated by the competent authority which shall be filled by 14.08.2014.

RELAXATION IN MARKS FOR DIFFERENT CATEGORIES
Candidate belonging to any of the following categories is allowed a relaxation in the minimum eligibility requirement in the qualifying examination (Para 1.2.1) as detailed below:
 Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST): A candidate claiming reservation under SC or ST category is required to just pass in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
 Other Backward Classes (OBC): A relaxation of 10% i.e. 54% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
 Defence Category (DC): A relaxation of 5% i.e. 57% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
 Physically Challenged (PH): A relaxation of 5% i.e. 57% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.


REGION WISE ALLOCATION OF SEATS
The region wise allocation of seats is as follows:-  
DELHI REGION ( For Delhi Region Candidates only) 85% OUTSIDE DELHI REGION ( For Outside Delhi Region  Candidates only)
15%

NOTE:
1) For a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination through Patrachar Vidyalaya, Delhi /National Institute of Open School, Delhi (NIOS), the criterion for deciding the region shall be the location of his Centre of examination.
In other words, if the Centre of examination is located in the N.C.T. of Delhi, the candidate shall be considered under the Delhi Region and if the centre of examination is located outside N.C.T. of Delhi, he shall be considered under the Outside Delhi Region; as upheld by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in W.P.(C) 5312/2012, Anurag Meena Vs NSIT (Order dated 06.09.2012).

2) Except for the Nominees of Govt. of India (Para 1.4.vii), the admission is open to Indian nationals only.


 AGE REQUIREMENT
There is no minimum age requirement.


PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION
COUNSELLING FEE (to be deposited from 04.07.2014 to 10.07.2014) To participate in counselling, every eligible candidate, irrespective of his category, will have to deposit a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs. 1,000/- by using Credit / Debit Card / Internet Banking through our BillDesk Payment Gateway facility accessible on this website. Candidate has to pay an additional transaction charge as given below:
(i) Credit / Debit Cards - 1.00% of the counseling fee plus service tax as applicable.
(ii) Internet Banking - Rs. 10/- plus service tax as applicable.

Candidates can register immediately after successful submission of the fee.

ONLINE REGISTRATION
Online Registration facility will be available from 04.07.2014 to 11.07.2014.
The registration may be done as follows:
1) Having paid the counselling fee, the candidate should visit institute website http://www.nsit.nic.in where he is required to select the link “NEW REGISTRATION” displayed on the webpage and enter the following parameters correctly:-

 Application Form Number
 Name of the Candidate
 Date of Birth
 Nationality
 12th Class Pass Status
2) On successful verification of the above details by the system, another screen will be displayed. The Candidate is required to fill in his other details.

3) After successful registration, the candidate will get a confirmation message on the screen.
4) Immediately thereafter, the Candidate is required to fill in the choices of branches of B.E. Program of the Institute.
5) After successful registration, the following modules will be available on the website in the Candidate‟s Login Account:
 Registration Details : Displays all details filled by the candidate.
 Choice of Courses : Displays available choices, option to fill the choices and the opted choices.
 Edit details : To edit Registration details till closing of registration.
 Change password : Candidate can change his password.
 Allotment Letter : Will be available only when a seat is allotted after declaration of result.

IMPORTANT
a) It is in the interest of the Candidate to remember his password and keep it confidential to avoid misuse for which NSIT/NIC shall not be responsible in any manner.
b) Candidate has to take the print-out of the registration form and get it attested either from the Principal of the School/College last attended or from a Gazetted Officer and submit the same at the time of counselling/admission in the Institute.
c) After closing of registration, a Candidate has to take a “print-out” of the choices filled, self-attest it and submit it at the time of Counselling/admission in the Institute.
d) The Edit option will not be available after closing of registration. No further editing will be permissible in the details submitted by the candidate, which will automatically freeze immediately after closing of registration.
