ADMISSION NOTICE-2014

National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (NMIHACM) is a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, located in the National Museum, New Delhi. The Institute offers specialized courses in (a) History of Art (b) Conservation (c) Museology, leading to the award of M.A. in concerned disciplines. It also awards eight Merit Scholarships @ Rs.3000/- each per month (Rs.40,000/- each per annum inclusive of Rs.4000/- towards reimbursement of contingency expenses) on the basis of performance of the students in semester examinations and eight Merit-cum-Means Scholarship @ Rs.1000/- each per month (Rs.12000/-each per annum).

Applications in prescribed form (to be downloaded from www.nmi.gov.in) are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.A. Courses for the academic session 2014 as per following minimum eligibility criteria:-
a) M.A. (History of Art):- A Graduate Degree from Indian University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized foreign University with minimum 50% marks.
Desirable: A Background in Social Science, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.
Total seats: 25 (UR - 12, SC - 4, ST - 2, OBC - 6 & PWD - 1)

b) M. A. (Conservation):- A Graduate Degree from a recognized University with 50% marks in any of the following subjects: Chemistry / Physics / Geology / Botany / Zoology / Computer Science / Fine Arts / History / History of Art / Architecture / Archaeology / Museology / Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.

Total Seats: 15 (UR - 8, SC - 2, ST - 1, OBC – 4)

 c) M.A. (Museology):- B.A. / B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.F.A. (3 Years) in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences /Science from a recognized University with 50% marks.

Desirable: A Background / P.G Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum studies.

Total Seats: 15 (UR - 8, SC - 2, ST - 1, OBC - 4)

Desirable:
Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian other than mother tongue will be an additional qualifications for the purpose of M.A. Courses.

General Instructions:-
(i) Last date for receipt / submission of complete application forms will be 03.07.2014.
(ii) Candidates applying for admission to more than one subject should use separate application form for each discipline and tick mark the respective box of course applied for properly.
(iii) Enclose attested photocopies of Pass certificate of Class 10, mark sheets of Class 10, Class 12, Graduation / Post graduation (if available), as well as Caste / Special Category certificates. All candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC categories must obtain caste certificates which should be in proper format, and which should be signed by appropriate authority.
(iv) The completed application form should be sent by Speed post / reliable courier (means by which sender may track its movement on internet) or in person to reach the Office of the Assistant Registrar (In-charge), National Museum Institute, 1st Floor, National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi-110 011 positively by the due date. Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected / may not be considered / processed.
(v) Name of all shortlisted applicants for Test / Interviews will be declared in our website: www.nmi.gov.in  on 05.07.2014 except those whose applications are summarily rejected, are allowed to appear at the Test / Interviews on purely provisional basis, subject to their eligibility being verified at the time of Test / interviews / admission. Merely being allowed to appear at the Test / Interviews will not be considered as a ground for being eligible for admission to the MA. Courses. Further, mere submission of application form does not entitle a candidate to appear for the Test / Interviews. (vi) Shortlisted Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria shall have to appear to pass a written test followed by interview as per following schedule at the Institute:-
Date of Written test and interview:-
a) M. A. (History of Art) : 08.07.2014 at 10.30 A.M. (Tuesday)
b) M. A. (Conservation) : 09.07.2014 at 10.30 A.M. (Wednesday)
c) M.A. (Museology) :10.07.2014 at 10.30 A.M. (Thursday)
(vii) All shortlisted Candidates (will be declared in our website on 05.07.2014) are advised to reach and report for written test and interview on the respective dates at 10.15 A.M., Conference Room, 1st Floor, National Museum Institute, National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi-110 011.

Specific Instructions:-
1. Before filling and submitting application form, candidates are advised to carefully read the eligibility conditions for admission to the M.A. programme and satisfy yourself that you fulfil all the minimum eligibility conditions.
2 The form should be filled up neatly and clearly in all respect. Write your Name & address clearly in capital letters, provide pin code, STD code and telephone number, mobile number and e-mail id.
Incomplete and illegible application forms will liable to be rejected.
3. No fee is payable at the time of submission of the application forms.
4. The successful candidates shall be intimated to deposit requisite fee only at the time of admission in M. A. Courses.
5. The result / list of successful candidates (discipline wise) will be displayed on the Institute website in due course of time.
6. Presently this Institute does not have hostel facility.
7. Candidates are directed to see the website of the Institute for any information related to courses, fee, syllabi for written test, and important announcement of shortlisted candidates, result etc.
