COURSES
& ELIGIBILITY:
(I) PG Degree Courses:
M.Sc (Nursing) -
The candidates applying for admission to
M.Sc.(Nursing) course should have qualified with the degree of Basic B.Sc.
(Nursing) / P.B.B.Sc.(Nursing) of Pondicherry University or the degree of any
other University recognized as equivalent thereto by the Pondicherry
University. Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks
(50% for SC/ST) in the B.Sc.(Nursing)/ P.B.B.Sc.(Nursing) course with minimum
duration of 4 years / 2 years respectively in the Indian Nursing Council
recognized institution. The candidate should be the Registered Nurse and
Registered Midwife of any State Nursing Council with one year work experience
after registration in the Nursing Council as on 31st July of year of admission.
The candidates should re-register with Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council
if they had registered with any Nursing Council of Other States
M.Pharm. (Pharmacy) -
The candidates applying for admission to M.Pharm
course should have passed B.Pharm. with minimum 55% of marks (over all) from
any recognized College/University approved by the PCI & AICTE.
M.P.T. (Physiotherapy) -
The candidates applying for admission to M.P.T
course should have qualified with the degree of Bachelor of Physiotherapy
(B.P.T) of Pondicherry University or the degree of any other University
recognized as equivalent thereto by the Pondicherry University. Candidates
should have obtained a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks in the Bachelor of
Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) course of minimum duration of 3 years of study and 6 months
of compulsory rotatory internship.
(II) UG Degree Courses:
P.B.B.Sc. (Nsg)-
Candidates who have passed the Diploma in General
Nursing and midwives with 50% of marks in aggregate, two years experience and
registered in Tamil nadu Nurses and midwives council are eligible for admission
to Post Basic B.Sc., (Nursing) course.
B.Pharm (Lateral Entry) -
Candidates, who have passed the Diploma in Pharmacy
Examination from any Institute approved by PCI with 50% of marks in aggregate,
completed the Hospital training and registered in any of the State Pharmacy
council are eligible for admission to second year B.Pharm course.
(III) Diploma Courses:
(a) DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL ECHO CARDIOGRAPHY (DCEC)
(b) DIPLOMA IN DIALYSIS TECHNOLOGY (DDT)
(c) DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY (DCM)
Qualifications for Admission
Candidates who have passed Degree Course in Science
Stream, viz, B.Sc. (Botany), B.Sc.(Zoology), B.Sc.(Chemistry), B.Sc.(Physics),
B.Sc.(Biochemistry), B.Sc.(Microbiology), B.Sc. (Bio-Technology),
B.Sc.(Radiography), B.Sc.(Nursing), B.Pharm, B.P.T., B.Sc.(MLT) or its
equivalent from any recognised University are eligible.
(d) Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM)
(e) Diploma in Multipurpose Health Worker-Female
(DMPHW-F)
(f) Diploma in Certified Radiological Assistance
(DCRA)
(g) Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT)
(h) Diploma in Ayurveda Pharmacy (DAP)
(i) Diploma in Siddha Pharmacy (DSP)
(J) Diploma in Homoeopathy Pharmacy (DHP)
Qualifications for Admission:
For DGNM Course (3½ years):
(i) Must have passed H.Sc. (+2) or its equivalent
preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate of 40% marks; (ii) Must
have passed H.Sc. (+2) in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics,
Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home
Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/ English Elective
or Health Care Science – Vocational Stream only, passing out from recognised
Board under AISSCE/ CBSE/ SSCE/ HSCE or other equivalent with 40% marks; (iii)
Must have passed Vocational ANM under
CBSE Board or other equivalent Board from the
School and recognised by Indian Nursing Council with 40% marks; (iv) Registered
as ANM with State Nursing Registration Council; (v) Students qualified in 10+2
Arts or Science Examination or Health care Science – Vocational stream only
conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks; (vi) 35% marks
for SC / MBC/ OBC/ BCM/ EBC/ BT (Male and female candidates are eligible for
DGNM Course).
For DMPHW-F Course (2 years):
(i) Must have passed H.Sc. (+2) or its equivalent
and secured not less than 40% marks (35% marks for SC / MBC/ OBC/ BCM/ EBC/ BT
) in Science or Arts (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology,
Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies,
Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology and Philosophy) and English
Core/ English Elective or Science or Health Care Science – Vocational stream
only passing out from recognised Board; (ii) Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or
Science examination conducted by National Institute of Open School. Only female
candidates are eligible for DMPHW(F) course.
For DCRA/DMLT Courses (2 years):
Must have passed Higher Secondary Course 2) or its
equivalent and secured not less than 40% marks (35% marks for SC / MBC/ OBC/
BCM/ EBC/ BT) in Part-III subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (or)
Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology (or) Physics, Foundation Science &
Medical Laboratory Assistant Course (Male & female candidates are eligible
for DCRA/DMLT Course).
For DAP / DSP / DHP Courses (2 years):
Must have passed Higher Secondary Course (+2) or
its equivalent and secured not less than 40% marks (35% marks for SC/ MBC/ OBC/
BCM/ EBC/ BT) in Part – III subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or)
Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology (Male and Female candidates are
eligible for the DAP/ DSP/ DHP Courses).
COMMON
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR P.G., & U.G :
Age Limit:
There is no age limit for admission to P.G. Course
and
P.B.B.Sc.(Nursing) Course. For B.Pharm. (Lateral
Entry) the upper age limit should not be more than 50 years as on 31st December
2014.
Nationality
A candidate seeking admission should be an Indian
National. However, French Nationals residing in the Puducherry UT and covered
by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian
Nationals for the purpose of admission

Application Form and Information Brochure 2014-15 for three Post Graduate, two
Under Graduate Degree Courses and all ten Diploma courses can be downloaded
from the website http://mtihs.puducherry.gov.in

Downloaded Application forms (in A4 size
paper) should be filled in capital letters. Separate applications are
prescribed for each course. The details of application fee payable to MTPG
& RIHS and the relevant application form prescribed for each course are
given in page no. 27.
Filled in Applications for seeking admission should
be submitted along with all necessary/ requisite enclosures and crossed Demand
Draft towards Application fee for Rs.1000 / Rs.500 / Rs. 100/ Rs. 50/-, as the
case may be, to “THE DEAN, MOTHER THERESA POST GRADUATE & RESEARCH
INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, INDIRA NAGAR, GORIMEDU, Puducherry-605006”, so as to reach on
or before 25-06-2014 (Wednesday) by 05:00 pm, for M.Sc.(N), M.Pharm., MPT,
P.B.B.Sc.(N), B.Pharm. (LE), DCEC, DDT and DCM courses. The last date for
submission of filled in application for the seven Diploma courses viz,. DGNM,
DMPHW(F), DMLT, DCRA, DAP, DSP and DHP is 23-07-2014 (Friday) by 05:00 pm.
The crossed Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the Dean, MTPG &
RIHS, Puducherry payable at Puducherry.
In-Service candidates of the MTPG & RIHS /
Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services of Govt. Puducherry / JIPMER
should apply through proper channel, through the Dean, MTPG & RIHS / the
Director, DH&FWS, Puducherry / Director, JIPMER, Puducherry, respectively.
The application in complete shape duly sponsored by the Dean, MTPG& RIHS /
the Director, DH & FWS/ Director, JIPMER should reach The Dean, MTPG &
RIHS, Puducherry on or before 25-06-2014 (Wednesday) by 05:00 pm.
