10 (Ten) vacancies exist in the Department for admission to Ph.D considering the strength and availability of faculty members. General reservation policy of the Central/State Government will be followed .

The Research Eligibility Test (RET) for Ph.D. programme in Genetics and Plant Breeding will be held on 25th June, 2014 at 2 p.m.

The last date for submission of application form :24th June, 2014.

The RET will be of 50 marks . The question pattern will be of multiple choice type or short answer type . The Duration of the entrance test will be one hour.

An interview will be held on 26th June, 2014 at 2 p.m. for RET qualified ( Qualification bench mark – 40% of the total marks ) as well as NET/GATE/ SLET qualified candidates. A seminar of 10 minutes duration is to be given on work plan for each candidate.
Successful candidates will be eligible to register for their Ph.D in Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding

Eligibility : The Ph.D. entrance test of 50 marks for the eligible candidates will be held depending upon the vacancy as well as availability of candidate in a year and the qualifying marks will be fixed at 40%. Candidates with at least 50% Marks obtained in M.Sc. (Ag.) in Genetics and plant breeding or allied disciplines subject to endorsement by the concerned Ph.D. Committee from any UGC recognized University are eligible to appear in the Examination. Those who have qualified in NET/GATE/SLET or already obtained M.Phil degree would be exempted from the RET examination. They may directly submit a statement of purpose or research in brief and appear in the interview.
