Notification For Admission to
Post B.Sc. Four Semester P.G. Diploma in Jute Technology and

Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute
of Jute Technology, Calcutta University, announces admission notification to the Post B.Sc. Four
Semester PG Diploma in Jute Technology and Management course for the secession
2014 – 15 for sustainable HRD for Jute Sector to be conducted in this
department for Sponsored and General (Non-sponsored) Candidates (with required
reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates).
1. About the
Course: This Post B.Sc. Four Semester (2 – Years) PG Diploma in Jute
Technology and Management course is approved by AICTE and Calcutta University
and is mainly designed to suit the Middle to Senior level technical manpower
requirement as Technical Executives for Jute industry and related organizations
to fillup the gap of future ‘Technical Managers’ for the Jute sector.
2. Intake:
Total Seats: 60 (50% for sponsored and 50% for
non-sponsored candidates.). However, if seats for sponsored candidates remain
vacant, those will be filled up by non-sponsored candidates. Reservations
for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates are as per Calcutta
University norms / W.B. Govt. rule. 5% extra seats are reserved for Tuition fee
waiver (TFW) candidate and 15% supernumerary (extra) seats for PIO/Foreign
Nationals as per AICTE Norms.

Eligibility for Admission:
Pass in three years B. Sc. Examination or
Equivalent with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics /Statistics / Computer, as
one of the subject combination recognized by the University of Calcutta / UGC.
B.Sc appeared candidates may also apply (their admission will be valid subject
to passing the B.Sc with qualifying marks).

Placement:
100% placement assistance for eligible candidates
in supervisory jobs in Jute mills and other Jute related organization.
5. Admission
Procedure :
A Common Admission Test for PGDJTM for all
categories of candidates will be conducted by this Department. The admission
test will comprise one paper of 100 marks with four subgroups, viz. (i) General
knowledge and English, 25 marks (ii) General Mathematical / Statistical
aptitude, 25 marks (iii) Physics / Computer Application, 25 marks and (iv)
Chemistry, 25 marks.
For this session 2014-15, the admission test will
be held on Saturday 16th August 2014, at 12 Noon at the premises of Department
of Jute and Fibre Technology , Institute of Jute Technology , Calcutta
University (35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700019) followed by interview
on the same day. All candidates applied for the said course are to appear for
the Admission Test. No separate „Admit Card‟ will be issued, the „Application
Fee‟ receipt is the identity card for each candidate.
6.
Application Fee and Course Fee: For both sponsored and non-sponsored
candidates: Application fee during submission of the application is `500/-
only. (`250/- for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates, subject to producing valid
supporting document). The course fee for the 1st semester is `5,530/- (including
library fee - `100/- in 1st Semester, plus miscellaneous other fees as
applicable for all categories of candidates (Students activities fee – `400 in
1st semester only; Identity card fee – `30 in 1st semester only). Total fees
payable in 1st Semester is `5530/- and fees payable for all subsequent semester
is `5000/- per semester. Examination fee of the course is additional as applicable
and to be paid separately as decided by the University of Calcutta from time to
time.
7.
Scholarship: 5% seats are under
Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme and some Scholarships per year are also available presently
from JCI after admission, subject to satisfying the criteria set for this by
JCI.
8.
Sponsorship: Jute Mill/Jute Organization or any other reputed organization
/ Educational Body / Govt.
Dept. may sponsor candidates for the Post B.Sc.
Four Semester (2 – years)PG Diploma in Jute Technology and Management course.
For the sponsored candidates, original letter of sponsorship from
the Unit Head of the Sponsoring
Organization/Unit/Mill (Director/ President/General Manager/Mill Manager/ Chief
Executive/Executive Director with full name and office seal) mentioning the
total experience, if any, is to be produced to this office during submission of
application form. However all sponsored candidates have to qualify the Common
Admission Test for admission to this course.
9. Important Dates for Admission: Last date of submission of application : 14th August 2014,
with fee `500/- in cash (For SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates: application fee –
`250/-); Admission Test: Saturday 16th August 2014, at 12 Noon at DJFT – IJT – CU
campus at 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700 019.
Admission date: 25th – 27th August, 2014. Commencement of the Class for
this semester: 28th August 2014.
10. Documents required during Admission :
(a) B Sc. Pass Certificate / Provisional
certificate and/or Mark sheet
(b) Higher Secondary or equivalent certificate /
mark sheet.
(c) Madhyamik or equivalent Certificate as proof of
age.
(d) Medical Certificate for medical fitness, from
any Registered Doctor.
(e) Relevant Certificate for SC/ST /OBC/PH
candidate.
(f) Transfer Certificate,/ no objection certificate
/proof of admission cancellation, if already admitted to other College.
(g) If Sponsored, original letter of sponsorship in
prescribed format and No objection from present employer, if the candidate is
presently employed anywhere.
(h) The course fee in full (`5530/-) for the first
semester of this PGDJTM course, to be paid by cash or demand draft in favour of
“University of Calcutta” payable at Kolkata.
