Admission Notice
Admission to Certificate and Diploma Course (2014-2015) in Languages
Applications are invited from graduate candidates for admission to the following courses :
01.Certificate and Diploma* Courses (2014‐15) in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, German,
Hindi, Korean (only certificate), Pali, Persian, Russian, Spanish, Tibetan and Urdu Languages.
02.
Pre‐M.A.** Course (2014‐`15) in Russian Language.
*Candidates who have obtained one year certificate in a language from C.U. or an equivalent
certificate from other Institutes are eligible to apply for ‘Diploma Course’ in that language.
**Graduation and a two year Diploma in Russian is the eligibility for Pre M.A.
Candidates are to qualify an entrance test for admission to Pre M.A. Course.
Duration of the courses
: All the courses are of one year duration

: Graduation in any discipline
For other courses
: As stated above.
Classes are held
: From 5‐30 p.m. to 7‐30 p.m.
Attendance during the session
: Minimum 60%
The candidates selected provisionally may note the following requirements at the time of
admission :
i) All original testimonials
ii)
Two (2) copies of recent passport size photoghraphs
iii) Tuition fees for six (6) months only (for certificate course)

The classes for Certificate
and Diploma courses will commence on
25.07.14 and 28.07.14 respectively. Class schedule will be announced in due
course. The date of entrance test for
admission to Pre M.A.and the date of commencement of the course will be announced later. A list of selected candidates will be published on 30.06.14. Unlisted candidates may contact the office of the Department. The students who apply from other universities (Marked as OU in the selection list) must apply for Calcutta university registration within a month from the date of admission and submit the relevant papers at the dept. office. The last date of admission is 14.07.14. The students who will take the certificate examination (2014), C.U. may attend the provisional Diploma classes from 28.07.14. Notification regarding their admission will be issued after publication of the result.
Any other information regarding eligibility, etc. will be available from the office of the Dept. of Languages,
Asutosh Building (2nd Floor). The
application form for admission may be downloaded from the University webside (www.caluniv.ac.in) /or may be obtained at the office of the department. The filled in application along with attested copies of testimonials and the paid challan of Rs.50/‐ (For SC/ST/DA candidates Rs.25/‐ only) payable at C.U. Cash Section. Are to be submitted at the office of the Department
on or before 25.06.2014 (2 P.M. to 6 P.M.).
